Description of the cucumber variety Dalnevostochny 27

The culture belongs to the indeterminate type: prone to unlimited growth. Description and characteristics of the Far Eastern cucumber 27: the plant has long shoots with medium-sized leaf blades. The color varies in different shades of green. As the cucumbers ripen, pale yellow streaks appear.

The shoots of the Dalnevostochny 27 variety are branched, but there is little foliage, which is an advantage when harvesting. Flowering is of a mixed type; pollination by bees is required.

The Far Eastern cucumber 27 is unpretentious, grows well in the Far East, but it is successfully cultivated in various regions, including the Moscow region. It can be grown both in open ground and in greenhouse conditions.

Important! The cucumber variety Far Eastern 27 is mid-season: the first fruits are formed 40–55 days after sowing the seedlings.

Advantages and disadvantages

Experienced gardeners note the following advantages of the crop:

  • Possibility of growing in open ground.
  • Good resistance to various adverse weather factors.
  • Productivity up to 6-7 kg per square meter.
  • Resistance to downy mildew.
  • The versatility of the fruit.

At the same time, the variety also has disadvantages. For example, a strong shoot-forming ability, which requires additional time in caring for the plant. The dependence of the harvest on the attraction, presence and activity of pollinating insects also causes trouble.

Taste qualities of cucumbers

According to photos and reviews, Far Eastern 27 cucumbers are dark green fruits of an elongated elliptical shape, covered with sparse tubercles. The peel of cucumbers is dense and crunches when pressed. The pulp is white with oval-shaped seeds.

The average weight of greens Far Eastern 27 is 100-200 g. The length of the fruit ranges from 11-15 cm.

The taste of cucumbers is high: without bitterness, ideal for canning and eating in salads, fresh.

Important! The shelf life of picked cucumber of the Dalnevostochny 27 variety is 14 days at a temperature of + 7-12 °C.

Seedling and non-seedling growing methods

Seedling growing method. Growing using seedlings allows you to get a harvest much earlier than with the seedless method. To sow seeds for seedlings, peat pots, plastic containers, etc. are used. Before planting, it is recommended to soak the seeds in warm water or a growth stimulant for 7–8 hours.

It is important that the seeds are not completely immersed in liquid, otherwise they will “suffocate” without air.

One pot is allocated for one seed. In indoor conditions, seedlings should be grown for no longer than 1 month. To ensure that the plants receive enough light, it is better to place them on the windowsill. Seedlings should be watered promptly, but not excessively. 8–10 days after germination, hardening begins, opening the window for 30 minutes daily. The hardening time is gradually increased. When the average air temperature outside remains at 15°C–17°C, the seedlings can be taken out into the yard or onto the balcony and left to harden in a sunny place for the whole day, bringing them indoors at night.

If seedlings grow too quickly - “stretching”, when the shoots become thin but long, the plants should be moved to a room with more light. The seedless method. Cucumber seeds are sown in open ground no earlier than the first ten days of May. Planting at other times is not recommended, because for normal growth of cucumbers the soil temperature must be at least 15°C. For sowing, make a not very deep groove in the ground and fill it with water. After the water is absorbed, place the seeds at a distance of 15 cm from each other. Then sprinkle with soil and water a little.

Pros and cons of the Dalnevostochny 27 variety

An objective assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the Dalnevostochny 27 variety allows you to choose the best option for your garden.

Advantages of cucumbers of the Dalnevostochny 27 variety:

  • resistance to bad weather conditions and stressful situations;
  • long fruiting period;
  • high taste qualities;
  • affordable seed material;
  • universal ways of using the harvested crop.

The disadvantages of cucumbers of the Dalnevostochny 27 variety include:

  • Maximum yields are rarely achieved;
  • if the fruits are not collected in a timely manner, they quickly outgrow and change color to brown (this feature does not affect the taste);
  • risk of ripening hollow cucumbers.

An easily eliminated disadvantage of cucumbers of the Dalnevostochny 27 variety is bitterness. To eliminate it, it is necessary to adhere to the rules of agricultural technology and monitor the condition of the plant.

Hybrid specifications

The characteristics and description of the variety are as follows:

  1. The first fruits are harvested approximately 24-30 days after sowing the seedlings.
  2. The height of the hybrid bushes is within 0.8-1.3 m. An average number of green leaves develop on the stems of the plant.
  3. Cucumbers have a female type of flowering, and the ovary on it is formed in the form of a bunch. The hybrid is pollinated by bees. In order for the plant to show maximum productivity, the cucumber must be cultivated on breathable soils containing an average amount of carbonaceous components.
  4. Cucumbers have a length from 140 to 180 mm with a diameter of 3-3.5 cm. The fruit, which has the shape of a regular cylinder, is colored green. There are no white thorns on its surface, characteristic of other varieties.
  5. Cucumbers have a bumpy surface. The weight of the fetus ranges from 90-120 g.

Reviews from farmers growing the described hybrid show that 4-4.5 kg of fruit can be harvested from 1 m². Gardeners indicate that cucumbers have good immunity from diseases such as powdery mildew and olive blight.

Although the plant is intended for open ground, it can also be grown in greenhouses. In Russia, the hybrid is grown in open areas in the southern regions. In the middle zone of the country, it is recommended to grow the described variety in greenhouses without heating, and in Siberia and the Far North it is better to use greenhouse blocks with heating and hotbeds.

Optimal growing conditions

The Dalnevostochny 27 variety prefers moisture and warmth, feels good on fertile soils, and does not tolerate cold winds.

Cucumber Far Eastern 27 bears fruit well on loamy or sandy loam soil with a slightly acidic or neutral reaction.

To assess the environment, use litmus paper or determine its condition by visual signs: if sorrel, tomatoes and carrots grow well, then the soil is acidic. Slightly acidic soil is preferred by potatoes, roses and zucchini. A neutral environment has a beneficial effect on the growth of onions, garlic and beets.

Site preparation is carried out in the fall: it is cleared of weeds and debris and dug up. Manure is added to the ground (10 kg per 1 m2). It is recommended to add phosphorus-potassium fertilizers when plowing the soil. The soil in the greenhouse is prepared in a similar way.

It is recommended to plant Far Eastern cucumbers 27 after predecessors such as potatoes, legumes and tomatoes. The yield will be low when growing crops in place of pumpkins.

Caring for the variety after planting

When using the seedling method of growing, plants need to be looked after. Seedlings are fed with mineral and natural fertilizer compounds, and complex products are also used.

Seedlings grown indoors require additional amounts of potassium, nitrogen, phosphorus and other components.

Liquid feeding compositions are applied in several stages:

  • after the leaves form, the plant begins to prepare for active growth, the process of photosynthesis accelerates;
  • a couple of days before transplanting to an open garden bed, the crop creates a supply of nutritional components to make it easier to endure the adaptation period. As a rule, cucumber seedlings owe a high survival rate to a strong root system.

As a top dressing, you can use complex fertilizers for cucumbers.
The planting density of cucumbers should be three to four bushes per square meter of area.

In about a month and a half you can expect the first harvest. The Far Eastern variety is capable of producing up to three kilograms of cucumbers from each square of bed. But for this, the plants will have to be watered periodically, loosen the soil in the beds, and feed the crop.

For irrigation, it is recommended to use heated water that has stood in a barrel during the day. Once every week and a half, gardeners advise adding 1 liter of manure or ten grams of urea dissolved in a bucket of water.

Growing cucumbers Far Eastern 27

Cultivation of Far Eastern 27 cucumbers is possible by planting seed material in open ground or using the seedling method. Any option is available, so everyone practices the one that is more convenient for them.

Direct planting in open ground

Before transferring cucumber seeds to the soil, they must be hardened off. This will improve the germination of the purchased material. To do this, pour water into a saucer, place gauze on its bottom and place seeds on it, and cover others with a layer of cloth on top. As soon as they swell, the container is moved to the refrigerator and kept there for 2-3 days at a temperature of -2 °C.

Important! The seed material of cucumbers of the Dalnevostochny 27 variety, hardened in this way, is regularly moistened after transfer to the soil. Without water, it quickly dries out and dies.

Holes are made in the prepared soil at a distance of 5 cm from each other. When planning to cultivate cucumbers on trellises, there should be at least 20 cm between the seed material. The row spacing is 30-40 cm.

Place 3 cucumber seeds in each hole to a depth of 1.5-2 cm and sprinkle with soil mixture. The soil should be moist at the time of planting.

After germination, weak plants are removed. The procedure is carried out 10 days after sowing. The distance between the sprouts should be 10-12 cm. After the appearance of true leaves, thinning is carried out again so that 20-25 cm remain between the cucumbers.

The remaining Far Eastern 27 cucumbers are fed with slurry diluted in water in a ratio of 1:7, or with mineral fertilizers (20 g of urea and potassium sulfate, and 30 g of superphosphate are added per 10 liters of water).

At the end of the procedure, repeated watering is carried out, which will wash away fertilizers from the leaves (which can cause burns).

Growing by seedlings

The maximum yield of Far Eastern 27 cucumbers is achieved with the correct selection of seeds and their planting. It is recommended to use two- or three-year-old material, then the plant will form an abundant ovary.

Preparing Far Eastern 27 cucumber seeds for planting:

  1. Small and damaged samples are discarded, the rest are left in warm water for 3-5 minutes and then transferred to a saline solution. Any seeds that float to the surface should be discarded.
  2. Disinfection: the seed is heated for 2 hours at a temperature of 60 ° C, after which it is treated with a solution of potassium permanganate and washed.
  3. Hardening: keep the seeds on a damp cloth at a temperature of + 22 ° C until they swell. As soon as they begin to germinate, they are placed on the top shelf in the refrigerator for 48 hours, and then on the bottom shelf for 1 day.

Sowing of treated seeds of the variety for seedlings is carried out as follows:

  • several holes are made in plastic containers for ventilation; a hot awl is used for this;
  • containers are filled with soil (2 parts of soil are mixed with 1 part of peat, a little sand is added);
  • Place one sprouted seed in each glass to a depth of 0.5-2 cm and sprinkle with soil;
  • containers are placed on a pallet, transferred to a windowsill with good lighting, it is recommended to cover the plantings with glass or film;
  • Watering is carried out as the soil dries in containers.

After seed germination, additional illumination with phytolamps is installed. After 3-4 weeks, the seedlings are transferred to open ground.

Important! The optimal time for planting Far Eastern 27 cucumber seeds is the end of April, the beginning of March.

The seedlings are transferred to open ground when the soil warms up and there are no night frosts. To do this, dig up the bed with the addition of organic fertilizers, make holes up to 10 cm deep. The distance between plantings is 20-30 cm.

The holes are spilled, after which the seedlings are taken out of the cup along with the soil and transferred to the ground, sprinkled with soil. If the root system is damaged during the procedure, the plant will hurt for a long time.

Watering and fertilizing

Far Eastern cucumbers 27 need regular watering after being transferred to open ground. It is necessary to prevent the soil from drying out.

After 3-4 sheets appear, it is necessary to mulch the ground. For this, humus or agrofibre is used. This procedure serves to prevent the soil from drying out.

In the future, abundant watering of the Far Eastern 27 cucumbers is carried out 2-3 times a week in the evening. When water gets on the leaf blades under the influence of sunlight, the plant burns, so the soil is not moistened during the day and in the morning.

Important! In rainy weather, stop watering the cucumbers until the soil dries out.

Water to moisten the soil must be warm and settled. When watering Far Eastern 27 cucumbers with cold liquid, the root system rots and fungal diseases develop.

The culture develops faster if you carry out regular fertilizing: the first is to add a solution to the soil (1 tablespoon of urea with 60 g of superphosphate per 10 liters of water). The procedure is carried out after the appearance of 3 leaf plates.

The second feeding of the Dalnevostochny 27 variety is carried out after the start of flowering: 20 g of ammonium nitrate and 30 g of potassium nitrate and a glass of wood ash are dissolved in 10 liters of water.

During the period of active fruiting, liquid organic fertilizers are used. They can be applied both by spraying the leaf blades and at the root.

Far Eastern cucumbers 27 need regular loosening and weeding: the procedure is carried out once a week.

Formation

This agrotechnical technique allows you to give the vines of cucumbers of this variety the necessary direction. The procedure allows the plant to spend its resources not on growing green mass, but on bearing fruit.

Far Eastern 27 cucumbers are formed according to the following rules:

  1. The lower parts of the stem are not thickened; there must be full access of air to the root system.
  2. The shoots of the crop are directed vertically; the formation of thickets along the trellises is unacceptable.
  3. Formation takes place in the morning.
  4. Damaged or diseased shoots and barren flowers must be removed weekly.
  5. Trimming is done with a clean tool.
  6. The tip of the stems is pinched, otherwise there is a high risk of harm to the plant.
  7. It is not recommended to radically turn the lashes over: cucumbers do not like this, they will strive to return to a position that is convenient for them.

Healthy leaves should not be removed, since their task is photosynthesis. Violation of natural metabolic processes leads to a decrease in yield.

Sowing rules

Growing cucumber varieties depends on the climatic conditions of the region. If the temperature allows, the seeds can be planted in open ground.

But most gardeners prefer the seedling method. Seeds are sown in small planting boxes. The embedment depth is two centimeters. After three to four days, you can observe the appearance of the first shoots.

Sowing of seedlings is carried out in early April. Seedlings that have reached fifteen to twenty centimeters in height are allowed to be transferred to a permanent place. In most cases, this period occurs at the beginning of May.

Diseases and pests

Far Eastern 27 cucumbers have good immunity, but if the rules of agricultural technology are violated, they are susceptible to diseases such as powdery mildew or root rot.

Treatment consists of treating plants with fungicidal agents. To prevent the disease, control over watering is recommended. If the bush is completely damaged or treatment is ineffective, it is dug up and destroyed. The hole must be shed with a solution of copper sulfate.

The main pests are spider mites and aphids. To prevent aphid attacks, dill is planted near cucumbers of the Dalnevostochnye 27 variety. It is recommended to treat the bushes with garlic water (0.5 kg of garlic is added per 10 liters, the mixture is infused for 3 days).

Preventative measures to combat spider mites are digging up the soil in winter. Marigolds are planted next to the cucumber bed. The pest cannot tolerate this plant and will avoid it.

Far Eastern 27 cucumbers are easy to care for. They are easy to grow, but naturally, the more attention you pay to the plants, the more fruits you can harvest.

Photos of cucumber care

  • Far Eastern cucumber 27 is grown on trellises or supports to make harvesting convenient.
  • Watering is carried out in the evening, with warm water. Frequency – once every 1-3 days, depending on the weather. You shouldn’t skimp on water, this variety loves water, but you don’t need to waterlog the ground either - this can lead to the development of fungal diseases.
  • The soil loosens after watering. Any weeds that appear are destroyed.

Important!

If the shape of the fruit deteriorates, this indicates a lack of nutrients! When the top is narrow and the bottom is thick, it means there is not enough potassium. When the bottom is narrow and the top is thick, the plant does not have enough nitrogen. To correct the situation, you need to feed the crops with potassium or nitrogen, respectively.

  • To reduce the number of weeds, the beds are mulched with mowed grass without seeds.
  • It is advisable to fertilize with water-soluble mineral fertilizers once every 2 weeks. A solution of boric acid helps to increase productivity. From organic matter, use chicken manure (concentration with water 1:15) or mullein (1:10).
  • Formation is desirable. The main shoot and shoots of the first order are pinched after 4 leaves, and the shoots of the second order must fully develop.
  • The variety is bee-pollinated, so if it is grown in a greenhouse, during the flowering period it must be opened and bees lured by any possible means, otherwise the harvest will be meager.

Interesting!

To prevent cucumbers from getting sick, you can spray them with a mixture of milk and iodine. Take 8 drops of iodine per liter of milk, mix it, and spray the cucumbers, starting from the 5-leaf phase, 2 times a month throughout the season.

  • If a disease or pest appears, the plant is treated with fungicides or insecticides. A good preventative against diseases is a 1% solution of urea.

Reviews of cucumber Dalnevostochny 27

Gradova Marina Valerievna, 34 years old, Astrakhan

The Far Eastern 27 cucumber variety has been growing in the garden for several years. If formed correctly, they do not grow much and bear fruit abundantly. With good care, it is possible to collect up to 5 kg of fruit from one 1 m2. The harvested crop is not stored for a long time in the family: cucumbers are consumed fresh and made into salads.

Savelyeva Irina Yurievna, 40 years old, Sochi

Far Eastern cucumbers are favorites for preservation. If poorly watered, they become bitter, but when salted they are amazingly tasty and crispy. This variety, Dalnevostochny 27, grows in our dacha, which takes a long time to get to, so it received mediocre care. Up to 3 kg of fruits were collected from 1 m2, but this amount is enough for preservation.

Harvesting and storage rules

It is believed that cucumbers grow only at night. Having warmed up under the sun's rays and absorbed a sufficient amount of moisture, vegetables actively develop at night.

Picking cucumbers should be done twice a week

Fruiting continues until those days when the temperature at night drops below fifteen degrees Celsius. But as soon as the weather returns, the crop begins to produce again.

Green plants should be harvested twice a week as they grow. If you ignore this event, the cucumbers will overgrow and turn yellow.

The plant is recommended for cultivation even by beginning gardeners. With minimal care, the cucumber crop is able to bear fruit without requiring increased care requirements. It should be added that when growing, it is necessary to form bushes by pinching the main shoot and first-order shoots after the fourth leaf.

Pest treatment

Spraying the leaves with 1% urea with microfertilizers will save the Far Eastern vegetable from diseases and will also serve as a good top dressing. Treat immediately after the first signs of the disease. Then repeat a couple of times, to consolidate the result, the interval between sprayings should be 8 days.

The composition is prepared as follows: 50-100 g of urea, 3-4 g of potassium permanganate, 2 g of boric acid and 2 g of copper sulfate are dissolved in a bucket of water. Protection against diseases is provided by copper and manganese, and urea and boron play the role of foliar feeding. By fertilizing cucumbers in this way, we will not oversaturate the fruits with nitrates.
