Apparently, out of respect for the hard work of a villager or dacha resident, they bred a beautiful type of tomatoes for open ground, grateful for the yield for their care, like a dying flame - the Gardener Petrusha. These are salad “apples” with an affectionate name, early ripening (90-100 days), capable of producing up to 10 kg. juicy fruits from a square. And this is without shelter!

Under a film cover and even in an unheated polycarbonate greenhouse, the Gardener will rise to 120-150 cm, and the harvest from 1 sq.m. (3-4 bushes) will be 11-14 kg. Harvesting is from July until frost.

Among the advantages: there is no thickening of the leaf, it responds gratefully to any little feeding, it is indifferent to drought, it is resistant to diseases, it is good both fresh and in pickling marinades. A worthy neighbor for the “sisters” on the site!

In our beds there are also “French” and “Prussians”! No, not French tomatoes and German cockroaches! These are Truffle and Koenigsberg tomatoes.

Truffle

Here it is, either a “pumpkin” or a “potato mushroom”!

It can also be Sweet or Japanese.

The truffle is not French or Japanese, it was bred by Russian breeders, it is Russian! And very quickly it fell in love with gardeners for its excellent taste, excellent keeping quality, amazing resistance to tomato diseases, minimal reaction to weather changes, and the ability to grow under or without film. And, of course, the fruits have an unusual elongated shape, weighing 100-130 g each.

This shape and fairly dense skin make it possible to use Truffle tomatoes in salads and winter preparations, especially since 7-8 kg can be harvested from one bush in 105-110 days. The bush is quite tall - 1.5 m, very leafy, so for 1 sq.m. no more than 2 bushes!

The downside is cracking of ripe tomatoes. But this can be easily eliminated by not frequent but abundant watering. The second way to preserve fruits stretched into a “pumpkin” is to pick them unripe and let them “stay” with others, for example, with Pink honey. And they are not at all suitable for making juices and pastes!

However, this attractive plant also has its drawbacks, which are expressed in the following:

  • It is very sensitive to low temperatures, which forces gardeners to constantly monitor this parameter;
  • At the growth stage, young bushes cannot do without carefully dosed and timely feeding;
  • The fruit ripening time is late, which is very dangerous for plants planted in the middle zone (they may not have time to ripen before the onset of frosts and the onset of winter cold).

The red tomato can get rid of all the above-mentioned disadvantages of Titan if it is grown in greenhouses or greenhouses in mid-latitudes. Moreover, this must be done taking into account the peculiarities of climatic conditions in each specific region.

Considering the fact that up to 8-9 bushes of a tomato plant can be placed per unit of area allocated for tomatoes, with proper care for it, it is possible to collect up to 35 kg of selected crop from one square. In terms of one hectare of sown area, the maximum yield can reach about 590 centners.

For the type of tomato considered here, these figures indicate a fairly high efficiency of its cultivation, which not every known tomato can compare with.

In the container for seedlings (there should be drainage in the lower part to remove excess moisture), you need to pour 6 cm of fine charcoal, pre-mixed with planting soil. Mix the fractions thoroughly and compact.

Then, at a distance of about 3 cm from each other, you need to make grooves in the soil. Their depth should be no more than 1 cm. Now you can moisten the soil with a weak solution of potassium humate. The most convenient way to do this is with a spray bottle.

After the plants sprout their first shoots (appear approximately 10 days after planting), you need to remove the container with the seedlings and place the tomatoes under a source of constant light for 4 days.

To do this you need:

  1. Prepare a 350 ml container, make holes in it for drainage, and pour 2 cm of medium-sized wood charcoal into it. The latter can be taken from a barbecue, or you can buy a similar one in a store;
  2. Fertilizer that does not contain nitrogen is placed at the bottom of the container. For example, Borofoska. Volume – 1 teaspoon. Next, you need to fill the container halfway with soil;
  3. The seedling, using a small spoon, must be removed from its previous “place of residence” and transferred to a new container;
  4. The root system must be carefully covered with soil so that air “cushions” do not form in the container;
  5. Now the seedlings are watered with 1 tsp. weak solution of nitrate, per 1 liter. water. From above, the plants are filled to the top with the remaining soil.

Next, the containers with seedlings must be placed in a dry place and provided with lighting. Do not water. Subsequent watering can be done after at least 5 days so that the lumps of earth are completely wet.

All further watering should be done after the soil has completely dried. If the tomatoes begin to wilt a little, then they need to be strengthened with a solution of potassium humate in a volume 30% less than recommended in the instructions.

The remaining fertilizing should be carried out no more than 3 times during the entire period of plant growth. The best option is calcium nitrate in a volume of 1 tsp. per liter of water.

After the first leaves appear, you need to provide the seedlings with the following temperature regime - about 20 degrees during the day, and about 11 at night. Tomatoes must be illuminated for at least 15 hours a day.

Before the seedlings are planted in the ground, they need to be prepared. To do this, the temperature conditions must be made more “strict” for 2-3 hours a day. During the day, reduce to 15, at night - to 8. After 55 days, the tomatoes can be replanted.
