White Cherry

It belongs to the category of early ripening varieties; the first harvest can be harvested already 100-110 days after emergence. Ripe fruits often reach a weight of 400-500 g, so the bushes require obligatory garter. Growing is possible not only in greenhouse conditions, but also in open ground. The pulp has a pleasant sweetish taste, in which notes of cherry are vaguely felt. The tomatoes are light yellow on the outside and white-pink on the inside. The shape is large, heart-shaped. The variety is also good because it is resistant to diseases. Mainly used for fresh consumption.

Diseases and pests

Most diseases can be controlled by disinfecting the soil and seeds . There are microbiological preparations available in specialized stores for common diseases and pests. Preventive spraying with these drugs is carried out several times a season.

Tomatoes “White filling” are a long-bred and proven variety of tasty medium-sized fruits; its cultivation will not bring costs or inconvenience on your site.

White Queen

Snow white tomatoes

Snow white tomatoes were bred to enhance the beneficial properties of regular tomatoes.

Most owners of the new species note the extraordinary taste of white tomatoes, a large amount of sugar and the almost complete absence of oxalic acid in the fruits. However, in addition to visual and taste differences, there are unique properties inherent only to light-colored tomatoes.

Flavones give a light shade to products - biologically active substances that strengthen the walls of blood vessels, enhance the effect of ascorbic acid, soothe and relax. Doctors recommend white tomatoes for people with nervous system disorders or increased aggressiveness.

Unlike their red counterparts, white tomatoes are suitable for dietary nutrition. Due to the low content of organic acids, they are recommended for use by those who suffer from ulcers and gastritis with high acidity.

For experienced gardeners who care about their health and well-being, several special varieties have been developed. Conventionally, they can be divided into large and medium.

The most striking representatives of white-fruited tomatoes are the varieties White Wonder, White Heart, White Sugar, White Beauty, Swan Song, White Queen, Snowball.

White Wonder

The White Wonder tomato variety is intended for growing in greenhouses and temporary film shelters. The plants of the variety are tall (reach 1.5 meters or more), highly branched and very powerful.

About 10 kg of fruits can ripen on a plant at the same time, because there are usually at least 10 of them in one cluster. The fruits are almost white, only at the base they have a yellowish tint. The shape of the fruits is flat-round, and their weight reaches 350-400 grams. The peculiarity of the fruits of the variety is not only their unusual color, but also the pleasant sweetish taste of the pulp.

White heart

The White Heart tomato variety is also called White Ox Heart. This is one of the rare varieties of mid-season (90-100 days) white-fruited tomatoes.

Plants of the variety are tall, indeterminate, and very powerful. The bushes can reach a height of more than one and a half meters, so they need to be tied up. About 4-5 clusters are simultaneously formed on the main stem, each containing at least 5 fruits. Heart-shaped fruits, weighing up to 400-800 grams, transparent white, with a slight yellowness.

The variety is extremely resistant to adverse weather conditions, and its fruits are not prone to cracking. Like most white-fruited tomatoes, the fruits of the White Ox Heart variety are devoid of acid, which makes their taste even more delicate, aromatic and sweet.

White sugar

Quite tall, reaching a height of up to one and a half meters. The first fruits ripen 125 days after the appearance of the first shoots. The fruits when fully ripe have a cream color with a yellowish tint. The structure is dense, which allows them to be transported over long distances. The weight of the fruit is about 100 g. This is one of the rare varieties that are immune to most tomato diseases.

White Beauty

Large tomatoes of light cream color. Sweet, practically no acid, aromatic, meaty. They bear fruit until late autumn. By the end of the season, the cream color disappears and the last fruits on the bushes become pure white. To the surprise of guests and neighbors.

A swan song

Tall, productive variety with fruits of a delicate white-cream color. When fully ripe, a pink blush appears on the fruits. The fruits are breathtakingly beautiful and attractive. The pulp is dense, thick without acid, pleasant taste and aroma. 150-250 grams or more.

White Queen

Tall tomato. Bushes can grow up to two meters or more. Has a late ripening period. The harvest can be harvested in late summer and autumn. This tomato variety is a greenhouse variety that requires shaping and staking.

The fruits are perfectly stored, transported over long distances, without cracking. The White Queen tomato is a high-yielding variety; more than five kilograms of juicy fruit can be harvested from one bush.

Tomatoes have a round shape, slightly flattened, and an unusual shade of skin. Produces large fruits weighing up to half a kilogram. This variety of tomato has a delicate taste and aroma, the flesh is not sour, and is juicy.

Has a universal table purpose. Tomatoes are eaten fresh, made into juices, sauces, and wrapped for the winter. Fruits evenly until the coldest weather. Tomato rarely gets sick.

Snowball

A medium-early tomato variety, medium-sized - up to 1.2 m high. The fruits weighing 150 - 300 g are flat-round, cream-colored, almost white, yellow inside, sweet, lettuce-like, dense, fleshy. Yields both in open ground and in greenhouses. Fruity taste, high yield.

When allocating a bed for white tomatoes, keep in mind that they are very sensitive to sunlight. When ripening in the open sun, the fruits may acquire an unpleasant yellowish tint. Otherwise, it is a very useful vegetable that will always have a place on the table of a hospitable host.

White Jack

Indeterminate variety, oriented to greenhouse cultivation. Tomatoes have a pleasant lemon flavor, but without excess acid. They go well with seafood and are also suitable for light summer salads. The fruits are large, fleshy, often weighing up to 500 g. The peel is creamy yellow, retaining its color at all stages of ripening. Productivity is high regardless of climatic conditions.

White varieties of tomatoes - 7 most popular options

Adding an article to a new collection

In terms of the abundance of colors and varieties, hardly a single vegetable can compare with the tomato.
Tomatoes come in orange, yellow, almost black, striped, etc. But the white tomato is still a novelty for gardeners, although it has an unusual taste and a lot of useful properties. The color of these tomato varieties can only be conditionally called white: it varies from light green to pale yellow. This color is given to them by flavones - biologically active substances that reduce the fragility of blood vessels and increase the effect of ascorbic acid.

Big Ice Cream

Mid-early variety, bred in Russia. It has excellent taste and is recommended for use in dietary nutrition. Suitable for canning. A distinctive feature is the minimal number of seeds inside the fruit. Thanks to this, tomatoes can be harvested for the winter not only whole, but also chopped. Tall bushes, up to 2 m in height, require support. The average weight of ripe fruits is 100-200 g. The color of tomatoes is creamy white. The taste is sweet, without any aftertaste or bitterness. Growing is possible in a greenhouse and open ground. With good yields per 1 sq. m you can harvest up to 10 kg of tomatoes.

Why do tomatoes have white streaks inside?

Reasons for the appearance of white hard veins in tomatoes

There are several reasons for the appearance of this anomaly in tomatoes:

  • varietal feature. Breeders have developed special industrial varieties of tomatoes that tolerate transportation and long-term storage well. Externally, the fruits look appetizing, but when consumed they have no taste;
  • viral disease of plantings. As a rule, symptoms appear long before fruit formation. The stem of the plant thickens, the flowers become deformed and grow together;
  • lack of nutrients and microelements. White streaks occur due to a violation of the dosage of nutrients;
  • too high air temperature (more than +30 °C) is detrimental to the formation of the future harvest.

Advanced stage of the disease

Unsuitable growing conditions

The most acceptable temperature for comfortable growth of tomatoes is +20-25 °C. Plantings react poorly to strong temperature changes at night.

When temperature conditions change, the potassium contained in the soil ceases to be absorbed. Flowering continues without fruit formation.

The main requirement is to urgently lower the temperature. If tomatoes grow in a greenhouse, it is important to ventilate in a timely manner, hang containers of water in the room, and increase watering. For open ground, weekly watering should not be less than 5 liters for each bush.

Important! At high temperatures and untimely watering, lycopene does not form in the vegetable. It is this important element that is responsible for the redness of the fruit.

Incorrect fertilizer dosage

Why are tomatoes white inside? This is a lack of minerals in the soil (potassium, calcium) and an excess of nitrogen. The white, hard veins have no taste; such a tomato is unpleasant to eat.

White veins in a tomato are the result of a lack of nutrients

With a lack of potassium, a burn on the edges of the leaves appears and the color of the fruit changes. To help the plant, fertilize with potassium sulfate immediately.

A tomato “signals” about potassium starvation by the appearance of blossom end rot. The leaves suddenly begin to wilt. Fertilizers containing potassium in their composition are suitable for feeding. They are divided into:

  • chloride (can be used only in the autumn, so that chlorine evaporates from the soil before planting the seedlings);
  • sulphate (allowed to be used only in limited quantities at any time of the year).

Sugar White

Bred specifically for cultivation in temperate and northern latitudes with a cool climate and short summers. Greenhouse option. The growing season is 110-120 days. Late variety, high-yielding. Tomatoes, small in size and weight (100-200 g), tightly “hang” the bush, ripening in their own way. The plant boasts a powerful root system, but still needs staking for stability. Immunity to diseases is good. Thanks to the elastic, strong skin, the fruits can be transported over long distances.

Unusual varieties of tomatoes - white-fruited and black-fruited

Small and large, pepper-shaped and round, black and even with patterns - there are all sorts of tomatoes!

Black tomatoes

The abundance of varieties of this crop seems endless - after all, breeders are constantly creating new products. How not to get lost in such diversity, we discussed in detail in the articles How to choose suitable varieties of tomatoes for seedlings and Tomatoes: selecting varieties and growing seedlings. We discussed the earliest varieties of tomatoes, as well as those that have been tested in practice and are small-fruited and resistant to late blight. And now I propose to talk about unusual varieties - this information will certainly be of interest to many gardeners who want to grow not just a tomato, but a curiosity that will certainly surprise with its taste and appearance.

It is impossible to talk about all the unusual varieties of tomatoes in one article - this is a rather broad topic, and I will try to cover it as much as possible in a series of articles:

  • Unusual tomatoes: green, orange, yellow
  • Unusual varieties of tomatoes - with patterned and velvety fruits
  • Tomatoes of unusual shape: ribbed and long-fruited

And today we will talk about white-fruited and black-fruited tomatoes.

Planting in the ground and caring for tomatoes

The seedlings are moved to the garden plot as soon as the height of the plant has exceeded 20 cm. Tomatoes are planted in moist, loosened soil fertilized with manure. To prevent the bushes from interfering with each other and from suffering from lack of moisture and nutrients, it is recommended to plant no more than 3-4 plants per sq. m. The optimal plot size for one bush is 40*50 cm.

When planting in open areas, weather conditions should be taken into account. The air temperature must be stable, otherwise young bushes may suffer from periodic frosts. If cold weather still sets in after planting, the tomatoes are temporarily covered with film.

In order for the harvest to ripen as soon as possible, summer residents advise removing the lower stepsons down to the first fruiting cluster.

White filling needs the following care:

  1. Moderate watering is required. Since tomatoes are located in open areas, they are not moistened in rainy weather. During the dry period, watering is carried out at the root once every four days, using two liters of settled water for each plant.
  2. After watering, the soil is loosened.
  3. It is possible to grow a decent harvest only with timely application of the necessary fertilizing. First, use nitrogen fertilizers, such as ammonium nitrate. Subsequently, fertilizing is carried out with phosphorus and potassium mixtures. 3-4 feedings are required per season.

Soil and seed preparation

It is ideal to purchase ready-made soil in an apartment, but the soil will come from the dacha. Mix it with peat and fine sand. Tomatoes love loose soil. One day before sowing, the soil must be treated with boiling water.

For seedlings you need plastic containers; make holes in the bottom. You can buy cups made of paper, plastic or peat. The seedlings are picked, but if you sow them in peat tablets, then the plants do not need to be picked, but planted with the tablet.

Seeds can be sown immediately on the site, even without a greenhouse. To do this, knock down a wooden square (rectangle) about 50 cm high, place it on the ground and fix it. We strengthen the outer sides with earth.

The soil inside is steamed with boiling water, allowed to cool well, then sowed the seeds. Be sure to cover the top with glass, and on top with old warm clothes (jackets, etc.). If it’s warm, you can open the crops and cover them again in the evening.
