The variety was registered in the Russian seed register in 2011. The first generation tomato hybrid “President 2” is an indeterminate plant whose growth continues throughout the growing season. The variety is very early - the ripening of the first fruits begins a maximum of 2.5 months after sowing the seeds for seedlings. Plants are characterized by high growth energy. Internodes are medium, foliage is good. The hybrid is highly resistant to Fusarium wilt and mosaic virus, stem cancer, Alternaria and spotting. Tomato President 2 is ideal for growing in film and polycarbonate greenhouses, but it also bears fruit well in open ground. With proper care, the yield per plant reaches 5 kg. The number of ovaries on each plant is high; under favorable growth conditions, they require normalization.

Growing seedlings

Seedlings of the President 2 variety are planted at the beginning of March, several seeds in one container to a depth of two centimeters (subsequently, when each sprout reaches a height of 7-10 centimeters, the plants are planted in separate containers). Water the seedlings every few days as the soil dries out. It is recommended to feed it with complex fertilizers 1-2 times during the entire period of growing seedlings (this is approximately one and a half to two months).

For better seedling growth, it can be additionally illuminated artificially - this is important for regions where daylight hours in spring are too short. At the same time, you should not allow the seedlings to stretch excessively (more than 15 centimeters).

Characteristics

The main advantage of the President 2 hybrid, according to reviews from gardeners, is early fruiting. Along with the good quality and high quantity of fruits, this allows you to start harvesting fruits and their fresh consumption already in mid-summer. Among the disadvantages of the hybrid, the need to build high trellises and garter pegs is mentioned, since the height of plants often reaches 2.5 m.

The taste and texture of President 2 tomato fruits allow them to be used for all types of canning: preparing juices and purees, salads, snacks and fillings. It is not bad either fresh or in hot dishes.

Features of care

Replanting to a permanent place begins only when four pairs of leaves unfold on the stem. They begin to transplant into open ground in late May or early June.

To plant the President variety, choose a well-lit area that is protected from draft winds. The best predecessors for the President variety of tomatoes are cabbage, onions, melons, peas, and corn. Tomatoes should not be planted after potatoes, peppers, eggplant or tobacco.

The distance between rows should be 80 cm, the interval between bushes in a row should be at least 30 cm. Wood ash, superphosphate or humus must be added to each hole before planting.

Further care requires the fulfillment of certain requirements:

  • to increase productivity, they are formed into two stems;
  • stepsons should be removed regularly, their length should not exceed 3 cm;
  • it is necessary to install supports;
  • as a result of the formation of the bush there should be up to 7–8 fruit clusters;
  • During the entire growing season, at least three feedings are carried out (it is recommended to alternate organic matter with mineral components);
  • it is important to establish a watering regime (the President tomato likes frequent and abundant watering; on hot days it is watered once every 2-3 days);
  • the soil in the beds is loosened after each watering, this will prevent dry crust, and air and heat will freely penetrate to the roots;
  • To reduce the risk of developing fungal infection and rot, it is useful to mulch the soil around the bushes (straw, peat, and sawdust are suitable as mulch).

In the first month of plant growth, it is useful to apply nitrogen fertilizers. This component promotes the development of green mass. During fruiting, you need to add potassium-phosphorus components. During the flowering period and at the end of fruiting, foliar treatment is carried out, for example, with boric acid.

If you follow all these recommendations, there will be no problems during cultivation and at the end of the growing season you will be able to harvest a harvest of tasty, large tomatoes.

Features of cultivation

Due to the short period of fruiting, the hybrid is successfully grown in the northern regions of Siberia and Europe in greenhouses. In the southern regions of Russia, tomato can be grown in two “waves” in open ground. Hybrid President 2 F1 is unpretentious and has relatively high resistance to lack of sun, so it is suitable for cultivation in any region except the far north.

Plants are highly resistant to temperature changes. Sharp cold snaps and warming do not in any way affect their ability to form ovaries. Ripe President 2 tomato fruits are easily transported and stored fresh in cellars for a long time.

To obtain maximum yield, it is recommended to grow President 2 tomato in one or two stems. Excess shoots and stepsons are removed completely.

President F1 in comparison with other varieties

There are a lot of Dutch varieties and hybrids of tomatoes. In addition to the F1 President, the following are popular among Russian gardeners:

  • Bobcat F1.
    Late-ripening (120–130 days), determinate (bush height up to 1.2 m in a greenhouse, 0.5–0.7 m without shelter) hybrid. The tomatoes are meaty and taste very good. The weight of the slightly flattened fruit is 180–240 g, the yield is up to 6 kg/m². Tomatoes do not shrink towards the end of the season. It is immune to fusarium and verticillium and is transportable. Shelf life is less than that of President F1 - up to 10–12 days. The Bobcat F1 tomato ripens late, so in regions with harsh climates in open ground you may simply not wait for the harvest
  • Polbig F1.
    Determinate (0.8–1.3 m), early ripening (90–110 days) hybrid with excellent taste. The fruits are aligned, slightly flattened, weighing 180–200 g. There are 3–4 fruits in a cluster. Productivity - up to 4 kg per bush. Fruiting is massive, the entire harvest is harvested in 12–14 days. The formation of ovaries occurs even at low temperatures. Tomato Polbig F1 allows you to harvest very quickly, literally in two weeks
  • Rio Grande.
    Mid-early variety (up to 120 days). The bushes are determinate (up to 70 cm), do not need tying or shaping. Small (80–100 g) plum tomatoes are ideal for preparations. They are collected in brushes of 8–12 pieces. The variety is sensitive to temperature changes, so it is better to grow it in warm southern regions. Shelf life - up to 2-3 months, yield - 8-10 kg per bush. Tomato Rio Grande - high yield with small bush dimensions
  • Big Beef F1.
    Ultra-early (73–78 days) high-yielding tomato. The bushes are indeterminate (up to 2 m), powerful, spreading. Undemanding to soil quality. The fruits are large (minimum 200 g, under optimal conditions - 400–500 g), flattened, slightly ribbed. The taste is not bad. Productivity - up to 9.5 kg/m². Tomato Big Beef F1 ripens very early

Diseases and pests

The hybrid is resistant to most tomato diseases.

Among the pests, the hybrid is affected by whiteflies and spider mites. To get rid of them, regular treatments of plantings with Fitoverm and Aktellik are carried out. Fumigation with colloidal sulfur also helps get rid of pests.

It is easy to grow the Dutch hybrid “President 2 F1” on your own plot, and the resulting harvest will more than pay for all costs. Large, sweet and very beautiful fruits will decorate not only the beds, but also the pantry - in jars with pickles or fresh in boxes.

Characteristics and description

The tomato variety President 2 F1, according to its characteristics and description of the variety, is a tall species. Compared to standard or low-growing species, you can get a harvest from the President that is several times larger due to its impressive size. The variety is early ripening, high-yielding.

Characteristics of the variety:

  • the bush does not have an end point of growth, so it is easy to shape it to the height of the greenhouse;
  • the first cluster of ovaries is formed above the 7-8 leaf;
  • has a small number of stepsons, but requires their timely removal;
  • the ripening period of the first harvest is 95-100 days after sowing the seeds;
  • requires strong support and reliable fixation of the bush;
  • 5-6 ovaries are formed on each hand;
  • The color of tomatoes is red-orange.

From the President’s description it is clear that the crop is worth growing on your own plot. The description and characteristics of the variety are very suitable for almost all farms.

Description of the bush

Tall large bush, with spreading branches, vegetative type.
It can reach a height of 1.5-2 m, and often can grow up to 3 m. When growing, it is necessary to form a bush with 1-2 stems, which will increase productivity. The bush has small leaves, traditional green. The plant requires constant monitoring and tying up as it grows. It is better to fix it immediately when planting the plant in the ground, then change the trellis as needed to a higher one each subsequent time. If you miss the time for tying, the branches of the bush may break off under the weight of large fruits. The bush needs regular removal of stepsons. They need to be removed when they reach 6-7 cm.

In some cases, the variety may behave as semi-identterminal. That is, its shoots can stop developing at any time. Therefore, when taking stepsons, it is recommended to leave one of the strongest and most powerful stepsons, just in case.

What are the botanical data of the hybrid?

President, as a hybrid variety, is considered indeterminate with bush growth throughout the summer season.

The variety is distinguished by early ripening - the first fruits appear after 2.5 months from the moment of sowing the seeds for seedlings. Plants are growing vigorously. They are well leafy and have medium-sized internodes. There are different reviews about tomato varieties, but the opinion of the majority of gardeners about this variety is unanimous regarding its resistance to the main tomato diseases - mosaic virus, Fusarium wilt, stem cancer, blight, Alternaria. Proper care of plants is the key to harvesting 5 kg from one bush.

Pests and diseases

The President variety is rarely attacked by insect pests and infected with infectious diseases, but for preventive purposes it does not hurt to treat the bushes with copper sulfate, wood ash or soap solution.

Most often, tomato bushes are attacked by pests such as whiteflies, slugs, and spider mites. To combat them, use a soap solution, an infusion of hot pepper, and tobacco dust.

If cultivation is accompanied by the application of timely fertilizers, mulching the soil, regular and proper watering, and preventive spraying, then the plant will develop correctly, without problems.

Fruit characteristics

  • On average, President tomatoes weigh about 300 g. All fruits are the same in shape and size.
  • Unripe tomatoes are light green in color, but over time they change color to red-orange.
  • The shape is round, slightly flattened at the stalk.
  • The skin is dense and does not crack.
  • They have good shelf life and can be stored for up to 20 days.
  • They are resistant to long-term transportation, but do not lose their taste and commercial qualities.
  • The pulp is fleshy, juicy, dense.
  • Inside there are 4-6 family chambers filled with juice and small seeds.
  • Freshly picked fruits have an average taste, as do many hybrids. They are not particularly fragrant.
  • By placing the tomatoes in boxes and keeping them for 7-10 days in a dark place at room temperature, the tomatoes will become very tasty and sugary due to fermentation. The taste characteristics of aged fruits can be called excellent, thanks to which the President variety of tomatoes can be a good competitor to varietal tomatoes.

Planting and care

The plant is very demanding on soil quality

Tomato President F1 is extremely picky about the ground. The variety needs to be planted on light, fertile soil; the yield will depend on this. Hybrid President tomatoes are propagated by seeds, just like other tomato varieties.

The seeds are sown in soil fertilized with superphosphates, and the boxes are left in a dark place for several days until the first shoots hatch. Then they can be moved to a brighter room. When the seedlings have 2-3 full-fledged leaves, they can be planted in separate glasses.

Tomatoes of the hybrid variety President 2 require special care. The bushes grow large, so they definitely need to be tied up. You need to form a bush into 1 stem. During the entire growth period, pinching and thinning of foliage should be carried out. It is better to remove stepchildren by hand rather than with a knife.

If the plant is grown in a greenhouse, you need to constantly monitor the temperature. At night, the air temperature should not be lower than 16℃. During active ripening, the temperature should be increased by 2℃. The greenhouse should be well ventilated or equipped with a good ventilation system.

Tomato seeds are sown for seedlings in March-April. To improve germination and stimulate growth, they are treated with Epin or Zircon solution or soda solution.

For seedlings, prepare nutritious soil from peat, humus, sand and garden soil with a small amount of superphosphate. Place the seeds at a depth of 1-2 cm, germinate in a warm place, then lower the temperature for a week. They dive after the development of 2-3 leaves.

In a permanent place, place 3-4 bushes per 1 square meter. m, superphosphate or humus is first added to the wells. Since the height of the tomato requires a garter, a support is installed in advance at each hole.
