Growing

Tomatoes are great for growing in seedlings. Before sowing, the seeds and soil are treated to prevent contamination and spread of infection throughout all plantings. The soil includes soil, humus and peat. The seeds are sown to a depth of about 2 cm, then covered with film and placed in a warm, lighted place.

The sprouts are watered with warm water. After the first leaves appear, the soil is fed with liquid fertilizer, which contains nitrogen. This method is used for rapid growth and better survival of plants.

A week before transplanting, the plant is taken out into the fresh air every day: this helps it get used to the weather conditions.

Transplantation is carried out in early June. Before this, the soil is well cultivated and fertilized. A distance of 60 cm is maintained between plants.

Warm water is used for irrigation. Water the plantings regularly, in the evening.

Plants are fertilized regularly

The soil is loosened so that the moisture quickly reaches the roots and does not stagnate in one place. Water should not get on the leaves.

Plantings are fertilized, since the tomato cannot constantly take the necessary elements from the soil. During the season, tomatoes are fed about 3-4 times. Foliar feeding is also carried out, but not more than once every 10 days. Possible combination with pest control. In order not to overdo it with fertilizers, fertilizing is added in smaller quantities.

How to grow tomatoes

Seedlings are planted in a permanent location after the soil has warmed up. This is the second half of May.

Landing

The plants are watered and fed abundantly three days before planting, after transplanting they are watered once, then the soil is not moistened for two weeks.

The beds for transplanting seedlings are prepared in the fall. Remains of plants are removed and the soil is dug up. The soil is fertilized with ash and humus.

In the spring, the ground is dug up again. The soil should be disinfected by watering it with a solution of potassium permanganate or copper sulfate.

They dig holes, keeping the distance between them 50-60 cm. The distance between the rows is 60-70 cm. The seats are placed in a checkerboard pattern to save space. Immediately before planting, the seedlings are carefully removed from the pots along with a lump of earth. Place in the holes, forming roots towards the center. The holes with plants are filled with water at room temperature. When the water is absorbed, cover it with soil.

Tomato diseases

The Tsarsky Podarok tomato variety is resistant to the main nightshade diseases: fusarium, verticillium, and tobacco mosaic. For prevention, the soil is spilled with a solution of potassium permanganate or copper sulfate before planting.

Copper-containing preparations will help protect tomatoes from late blight. It is recommended to spray the plantings with phytosporin or other non-toxic biological product with an antifungal effect. Young tomatoes should be inspected regularly to help detect pests and their larvae. Aphids are destroyed with a soap solution; industrial insecticides or a decoction of celandine work well on flying insects.

  • Whitefly. It is a larva that feeds on plant sap. Whiteflies are eliminated using insecticides.
  • Medvedka. One of the most dangerous pests. She can even get into a greenhouse. The pest lays eggs, from which larvae quickly emerge and feed on the roots of the plant.
