Tomato Azhur is a determinate hybrid and belongs to standard plants.
It can reach a height of 60-90 centimeters, that is, the plant is medium-sized. Resistant to cracking, crown and root rot, as well as changes in weather conditions. Designed for cultivation both in open ground and in greenhouses. The time for complete ripening of the fruit is 100-110 days, which gives grounds to classify it as a mid-early hybrid. When varietal maturity is reached, the fruits have a bright red color and a round, slightly flattened shape.
The average fruit weight is 240-280 grams . In rare cases it can reach 350-400, but this is rather an exception. The fruits are very fleshy, with thick skin, with a pleasant interesting taste and smell. Ripe fruits contain up to 5% dry matter and on average have 4 chambers.

Advantages and disadvantages
There are a lot of fruits on the bush
Tomato Azhur F1 has the following advantages:
- high productivity;
- excellent taste and presentation;
- tolerates drought well;
- resistance to fungal, viral and bacterial infections;
- versatility of use;
- in cool conditions the fruits are stored for about a month.
The disadvantages include poor productivity (without proper nutrition with organic matter and minerals). The second point is that the bushes are prone to strong growth, and therefore require a lot of space on the site. In addition, the variety has poor resistance to cold.
Comparison with similar hybrids
Other hybrid tomatoes have approximately the same properties - early ripening, determinacy, ability to grow in almost any climate, classically shaped fruits weighing approximately 200-250 g. These are varieties such as:
- Alabai;
- Supernova;
- Bagheera;
- Linda;
- Debut;
- Beef;
- Pink Bush;
- Nobleman.
In addition to them, there are many more hybrids of domestic and foreign selection that gardeners can pay attention to when choosing tomatoes to grow in their beds.
General information about culture
The hybrid tomato variety Azhur was obtained by Russian breeders for cultivation in greenhouse conditions in the northern regions of the country. However, the plant feels great and shows excellent results in open ground in the Krasnodar region, Astrakhan region, and in the central regions of Russia.
The tomato variety f1 Azhur was registered as a new vegetable crop in 2007. It has become popular among vegetable growers, as it not only has high productivity, but is also resistant to late blight, black leg, cracking and drying of fruits.
Tomato f1 belongs to the determinate type, that is, the stem of the plant stops growing after several clusters appear on it.
Tomato Openwork
Openwork is a table variety and is universal in use. Small tomatoes can be canned, and large ones can be eaten fresh. The variety is also ideal for making tomato juice and paste.
Productivity
The hybrid "Azhur" is a high-yielding tomato, which makes it popular among gardeners. Proper care and sufficient fertilizing allow you to get from 10 to 12 kg of tomatoes of excellent taste from 1 m2.
In greenhouses, the tomato hybrid “Azhur” can be cultivated throughout the Russian Federation. It can be grown in open beds in the Astrakhan region, Krasnodar region and in the Central regions of Russia: Belgorod and Kursk regions. In areas with more severe climatic conditions (southern Siberia, Far East, Ural) they are grown only in greenhouses.
Features of cultivation and storage
The main peculiarity of the Azhur variety is its ability to set fruit in extreme heat. Its pollen tolerates high temperatures well without losing its fertilizing properties.
The fruits of this tomato can be stored for a long time under normal room conditions (up to 1 month) and tolerate transportation well, so the hybrid is suitable for growing for sale. The hybrid is well stored when removed in its brown form and laid out for ripening in no more than 3 layers in low boxes made of wooden slats or in baskets.
The fruits are left in a dry, ventilated room at a temperature of 20-25 degrees. It's good if the storage is dry. When air humidity is high, tomatoes rot.
For faster reddening, add several ripe ones to green tomatoes - they release ethylene gas, a ripening stimulant. At a temperature of 1-3 degrees, the fruits of the plant can be stored for up to three months without loss of quality.
Growing
The seedling growing method guarantees a rich harvest.
Processing seed material can speed up germination and increase the percentage of germination. Agrotechnical techniques include: seed sorting, heating, exposure to a growth stimulator, germination and hardening of seedlings.
Sowing of seeds is carried out two months before planting seedlings in a permanent place, in mid-March. The process consists of:
- pouring soil into boxes or containers;
- placing two or three seeds in moistened soil to a depth of 1 cm with an interval of 5 cm;
- watering, covering with film or glass, and placing in a dry, bright place with a temperature of at least 23 degrees Celsius;
- removing cover when sprouts appear;
- dive of seedlings when three true leaves are formed.
When growing tomatoes of the Azhur variety, they adhere to weather conditions. Transplanting seedlings is possible when the soil warms up to a temperature of 15 degrees. Planting in the evening promotes rapid adaptation of seedlings.
The site should be located on a hill, well heated and illuminated. The best predecessors are zucchini, cabbage, and cucumbers.
The bed is dug up, fertilized with organic matter or superphosphate and leveled.
The holes are formed at a distance of 40 cm, with an interval between rows of 50–60 cm. They are watered and organic fertilizers are applied.
The seedlings are sprinkled with fertile soil up to the top leaves and watered again with warm water.
Planting in the ground and caring for tomatoes
There are no strictly defined dates here. It is necessary to look at the weather and climatic features of the area. If frosts often occur in the spring, then you need to wait until they pass. For reliability, you can cover the newly planted plants with film, stretching it over metal arches installed above the beds.

The hybrid is planted in open ground in May or early June. Azhur tomato bushes are not very tall and not spreading; they will have enough space in the beds when planted according to the scheme of 40 cm in a row and 60 cm in rows. You can plant them in furrows or holes. Their depth should be slightly greater than the pots in which the seedlings were grown.
After planting, the plants need to be watered and mulched on top with a layer of hay or sawdust. The covering material will reduce the rate of moisture evaporation, prevent the soil from compacting and weeds from growing, thereby allowing the gardener to save time and effort in caring for plants.
While the tomatoes are taking root, they need to be watered well. The soil should be kept moist until the tomatoes take new roots. After rooting, the frequency of irrigation can be reduced, but the volume of water poured must remain sufficient.
Tomatoes need moisture most during the flowering and fruiting period. When most of the tomatoes turn red, stop watering to prevent them from cracking.
If the soil was fertilized before planting, the first feeding of the plants is carried out after 2-3 weeks. At this time, vegetable crops need nitrogen for the growth of green mass; they consume less phosphorus and potassium.
As nitrogen fertilizers for tomatoes, use ammonium nitrate or urea (1 tablespoon per 10 liters) or organic fertilizers. They are obtained by infusing 10 parts water to 1 part manure for a week. Plants are watered with this solution - 0.5 liters per bush.
The second feeding is carried out when most of the fruits have set. Now phosphorus and potassium should predominate in fertilizer mixtures. You can use any mixtures that contain these elements, except those containing chlorine.
Mineral fertilizers can be replaced with ash - 1 cup per 1 bucket. The third (when all the fruits have set) and, if necessary, the fourth fertilizing is done with the same composition.
You can also use complex fertilizers like Crystallon. This is even more practical, because they contain not only basic nutrients, but also many microelements that plants need no less than nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus.
There is no need to shape Azhur tomatoes, since they are standard. It is advisable to tie it to a support, since the plants are large-fruited: when the tomatoes begin to grow, branches may begin to break under their weight.
The fruits of the hybrid are collected as they ripen. As indicated in the description, the first harvest is harvested 105-110 days after germination. Tomatoes can be picked either fully ripe or slightly unripe. You can use them to prepare various dishes and preserve them.
Thanks to their thick skin, Azhur tomatoes can be stored for 2-3 months in a cold room.
Description
The plant is of a determinate type, looks moderately spreading and very decorative, confirming its name. Height is 70 - 80 cm, but not higher than 90 cm. The stem of the variety is powerful, the internodes are short. Shoot formation is moderate, foliage is good. The leaves of the tomato are of the usual type, dissected into lobes, with well-defined veining, and dark green in color. The large leaf plate of Azhur reliably covers the fruits from the scorching sun. Yellow flowers are collected in a simple inflorescence. Up to 5 fruit clusters are formed on the main trunk; additional 2-3 clusters can develop on the stepsons. In each of them, up to 5 - 6 ovaries are formed. Pedicel with articulation. Thanks to the thick stalk and large fruits, the cluster looks quite powerful.
Azhur fruits have a regular flat-round shape and are smooth. An unripe tomato is green; as it ripens, it turns red-crimson, the color is uniform, there are no spots near the stalk. The skin is durable, glossy and shiny. The pulp of the variety is juicy, fleshy, moderately dense, without voids, the number of seed nests is 4 - 6. Thanks to the balanced content of sugars and organic acids, the taste is excellent, reminiscent of varietal tomatoes. The usual weight of tomatoes is 220 - 240 grams, but sometimes 400 gram specimens ripen. 100 grams of pulp contains about 5% dry matter.
Transfer
Tomatoes growing in a greenhouse
The optimal time for transplanting tomatoes into a greenhouse is the first half of May, and into a garden bed - the last ten days of May. Tomatoes are sensitive to fresh air and sunlight, so they should be hardened off before planting.
10 days before transplanting, the tomatoes are taken outside at 10-11 a.m. and left there for 1-2 hours. Gradually, the time spent in the air is increased, and on the last day the plants are left there overnight under a film.
Preparing the bed
When planted in the garden, tomatoes require a sunny, wind-protected place where there is no stagnant water. The best predecessors for them are cabbage, beets, cucumbers, legumes, onions and garlic.
The soil is prepared in the fall after harvesting other crops - weeds and vegetation residues are removed. Per 1 m², add 10 kg of humus (compost), 3 kg of wood ash, 100 g of superphosphate and potassium salt.
Additionally, 300 g of dolomite flour, chalk or slaked lime are added to the acidic soil. If the soil is heavy, it is worth adding a bucket of sand or sawdust. After applying fertilizers, the bed is dug up.
2 weeks before transplanting tomatoes, the area is watered with a urea solution - 600 g per 20 liters of water. This is necessary for disinfection and increasing soil fertility.
Planting scheme
The plant is of medium height, but tends to grow strongly, so the optimal planting scheme is 50x60 cm. It is enough to plant 5-6 bushes per 1 m².
The holes dug according to the size of the root system of the seedlings are watered with water (1 liter each). After absorbing moisture, the roots are lowered into them, sprinkled with earth, slightly compacted in the stem area and hilled for stability.
Reviews from gardeners about the Azhur tomato
Gardeners have been growing the Azhur hybrid for more than 10 years on plots of land, leaving their reviews about it.
Marina:
“I’ve been growing tomatoes for a long time; many varieties grew on my plot. I liked the Azhur tomato variety because it has low bushes, they do not fall, and the fruits are large and juicy. The hybrid does not have any special features. This is a standard, not tall, but large-fruited tomato that produces an excellent harvest.”
Olga:
“Azhur tomato bushes are compact and not too tall; they can be grown without support or formation. This greatly simplifies maintenance. In general, they should be grown in the same way as most determinate tomatoes. The only drawback, in my opinion, is that the largest fruits cannot be preserved in jars. For these purposes, I separately grow a variety of tomatoes with uniform, medium-sized fruits. Otherwise, Azhur F1 suits me in every way.”
Natalia:
“Despite the fact that this is an early-ripening hybrid, tomatoes picked slightly unripe do not spoil for a long time. For an early tomato, this is an undoubted advantage. "Azhur is an unpretentious hybrid that does not require any special care, so it is suitable for those vegetable growers who are just starting to get involved in the crop."
Azhur tomatoes can be grown throughout the country. Both regular open beds and greenhouses of various types are suitable for this. In order to grow the first harvest, plants will need 3 months from the day shoots appear. The fruits can be consumed fresh, cutting them into salad, or processed into juice, homemade tomato paste, and various sauces. You can put them in short-term storage.

Tomato variety Azhur (F1)
The agricultural company SeDeK is well known in Russia. The breeders of this company have presented tomato growers with more than one variety with remarkable characteristics. But hybrids from this manufacturer have much more valuable qualities. One of them is the Azhur tomato. An application for registration of the new product was submitted in 2005, 2 years later it was included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of the Russian Federation with admission to all regions of Russia. Recommended for cultivation in open (Astrakhan region, Krasnodar region, Central regions of Russia) and closed ground (Ural, Siberia and Far East) personal subsidiary plots. It is a hybrid, therefore it has the mandatory F1 marking.

Characteristics
- Hybrid Azhur belongs to the mid-early species; from the moment of full shoots to the beginning of ripening, it takes from 105 to 115 days, depending on the region;
- The yield for a small plant is excellent - according to the originator, in open ground this figure is 85 - 120 t/ha, in film shelters - 10 - 12 kg of tomatoes per 1 square meter. With proper agricultural technology, the yield potential increases. Such indicators make growing the variety profitable not only for personal needs, but also for large farms;
- harvest yield is friendly;
- high heat resistance makes the crop popular for cultivation in the south;
- the harvest is formed regardless of the weather, be it excess moisture, cold snap or increased air temperature;
- As the clusters ripen, the tomatoes in them do not become smaller;
- the skin protects Azhur fruits from cracking;
- The variety's immunity is excellent - high resistance to crown and root rot, verticillium, tobacco mosaic virus, fusarium, suberization of roots, powdery mildew and nematode;
- tomatoes have the highest commercial quality; they do not wrinkle or spoil during transportation;
- subject to storage conditions, the shelf life of this delicate product is amazing - up to almost 3 months without changes in appearance and taste. Under natural conditions, the harvest is stored for a month, as the originator claims;
- The method of consuming fruits is universal. The excellent taste makes tomatoes an excellent ingredient in vitamin salads, their juiciness allows you to obtain excellent tomato products, and small fruits are suitable for whole-fruit canning.
Agricultural technology
The Azhur hybrid is very unpretentious, so a novice gardener can easily learn the basics of agricultural technology with this variety. You can sow seeds directly into the ground, waiting until the return frosts have passed and the temperature does not fall below 15 °C. But the seedling method is more profitable and economical. Seeds for seedlings are sown in March - April, depending on climatic conditions. In the south or during subsequent cultivation in a greenhouse, this procedure is performed a little earlier - in the middle or end of February. Tomato seedlings are grown in the usual way. Before planting in the ground, hardening is carried out. Seedlings ready for transplanting must be at least 55 days old. Recommended density is 4 plants per 1 square meter. Despite the fact that gartering is not mandatory for this variety, experienced tomato growers still recommend it. This will protect the bush from lodging when the harvest begins to ripen. To collect the maximum number of tomatoes, you can form the plant into 3 - 4 stems, carrying out partial pinching. The crop does not need frequent watering, but it is necessary during dry periods. The rest of the care is normal.
Openwork shows remarkable results in a regular garden bed and in a greenhouse. The yield, with the right agricultural technology, is impressive, the taste does not disappoint, tomatoes can be used in their natural form or processed. Add to this good resistance to any weather conditions, excellent immunity and unpretentiousness. The result is an almost perfect variety. The only pity is that plants grown from self-collected seeds will disappoint you. Therefore, seed material will have to be purchased annually.
Agricultural technology
The process of planting seeds and caring for seedlings of this variety is not particularly different from other types of tomatoes. It depends on where you plan to grow the Azhur f1 tomato in the future: in a greenhouse or in a garden. When grown in a greenhouse, tomatoes can be sown directly into prepared soil. Sowing of seedlings is carried out 60 days before the intended planting. In this case, it is necessary to take into account possible spring frosts.
Since the variety is a hybrid, its seeds can be sown dry. It is allowed to pre-soak the seeds in disinfectant and biostimulating solutions. After the appearance of two leaves that grow after the cotyledons, the seedlings should be picked. Before planting in the ground, it should be sprayed with antifungal drugs. It is also necessary to prepare the soil.
A special feature of growing the Azhur F1 tomato is that it forms the bush itself, and also gives equally high yields both in rainy summer conditions and during periods of drought.
Caring for a hybrid tomato consists of ensuring sufficient watering, applying fertilizers, and timely weeding. Fertilizers can be applied directly into the hole, immediately before planting seedlings. Then fertilizers are applied after 15-20 days, and in the future this procedure is repeated every 2 weeks.
Foliar feeding plays an important role in obtaining a high yield of Azhur F1. It should be done once a month by spraying fertilizer on the leaves and stems in the evening.
Which regions are best to grow in?
According to reviews from gardeners, Azhur f1 gives high yields in both middle and southern regions. The first harvest can be obtained within 3 months after sowing the seeds. But we should not forget that the variety was originally created as a greenhouse crop. Therefore, yields in the middle zone regions will be higher if these tomatoes are grown in a greenhouse rather than in open ground. When growing in open ground, it is better to plant seedlings, since seeds may not germinate for a long time in cold soil.
Below are reviews from those who grew this variety:
Ilya, 48 years old, Kursk
I'm a beginner gardener. I had never planted tomatoes before, so I decided to plant and grow this variety. I was pleased with the result. With minimal effort on my part, I got a good harvest of delicious tomatoes.
Irina, 55 years old, Astrakhan
I am satisfied with the varietal qualities of Azhur F1; I have been growing it for several years now. Never let me down. I always get a good harvest, regardless of weather conditions. A few photos from my garden bed.
Resistance of the variety to diseases and pest attacks
Azhur F1 tomatoes are resistant to most diseases. However, under unfavorable external conditions and insufficient care, they can succumb to rot and late blight. For prevention, the acidity of the soil should be equalized and plants should not be planted too densely. To prevent late blight, it is necessary to treat tomatoes 3-4 times per season with fungicides.
The main pests of tomatoes are slugs, spider mites and the Colorado potato beetle. To combat them, special drugs should be used.
Treatment against the Colorado potato beetle must be carried out simultaneously with the treatment of potatoes. In the fight against spider mites, treating leaves with a soap solution has worked well. Slugs are removed by hand or the bush and the ground near it are sprinkled with a mixture of ash and red hot pepper.
To summarize, we can say that this hybrid has a number of positive characteristics:
- resistant to environmental factors;
- tolerates heat and low temperatures with equal ease;
- resistant to most diseases common to tomatoes;
- The fruits tolerate transportation and long-term storage well.
This makes them suitable for both beginners and experienced gardeners.

I have been using agro tomatoes for 6 years now. I constantly grow and sow the “Azhur” tomato. I believe that the hybrid received its name due to the openwork structure of the leaf plates and the very delicate pulp. The variety is an early variety and has fairly large fruits, weighing about 300 - 400 grams. Personally, I like the hybrid for its taste; its other characteristics are excellent. I tried to grow the variety in open ground, in the garden and in the greenhouse. In both cases, the fruits are strong, do not crack, are well transported, and the flesh is fleshy and dense. The yield is simply excellent. I recommend everyone to grow this hybrid.
Ionova Nina, Chisinau
Tomatoes were planted in open ground. The crown of the bush is quite wide, so it is not worth planting more than 3 seedlings per 1 m2. The tomato is not tall. I was pleased that the harvest was very large and the fertility of the variety was simply excellent. There are a lot of tomatoes on the bunches. I tied it up because several pieces broke off. The first tomatoes are quite large, so we use them for salads. All the rest are already for conservation. This feature is that all the tomatoes ripen almost together. In mid-summer the harvest is already fully harvested. I planted strawberries in the vacant plot. I advise you to buy seeds only in Russia, since they are original there.
Nina Viktorovna, Belarus
I always plant a lot of vegetables. This year I also planted everything. The old greenhouse was dismantled, but the new one had not yet been installed. Therefore, the seedlings were planted in open ground. I chose the Azhur F1 variety. I wanted to try it because I had never grown hybrids before. I was very pleased with the seedlings, everything came up, and by the second half of May the seedlings could be planted. At the beginning of June the weather turned very bad and became colder. I was already starting to worry whether I would get a harvest. It turned out that I was completely unnecessarily nervous. The harvest turned out excellent. Next year I will definitely grow this variety too, I really liked the fertility and good taste.
Diseases and pests
Having resistance to almost all typical diseases does not exempt you from prevention. In order for the plant to be healthy, it is necessary to follow the watering and lighting regime, loosen and fertilize the soil in a timely manner. Of the pests, Azhur tomatoes are most often attacked by spider mites and slugs.
To combat mites, use a strong soap solution, which is used to wipe the areas of the plant that have been attacked by the insect, washing them away and creating an environment unsuitable for their life. This will not harm the plant. It is not difficult to fight slugs; if they appear, you need to sprinkle the ground around the bush with ash, and then add grated red pepper, and then loosen the ground.
There are no particular difficulties in caring for Azhur; even beginners in this matter can cope with it. We wish you big harvests and good luck in growing new species!
Application
The hybrid tomato variety Azhur F1 is universal in use. Due to the small size of the fruit, they are perfect for whole canning. These tomatoes are very tasty, so they are enjoyed fresh and in salads. Azhur tomatoes produce vitamin-rich juice and thick tomato paste.
Tomatoes do not lose their taste during heat treatment, so they can be used to prepare various dishes.

All about care
Openwork is a tomato variety that is not too capricious to care for. It is perfect for those summer residents who cannot constantly be in the garden. It can easily go without watering for several days. But still, these crops need care. In return, they will give you a large amount of healthy vegetables, from which you can make fortified juices and juicy salads.
Strong seedlings are planted in a greenhouse when the outside temperature is already 14-17 degrees. You can spray them with copper oxide. Since the bushes grow quite long, they must be tied up immediately.
It is better to plant in the evening when there is no hot sun. The shoots are planted 50 centimeters apart. Space should also be left between the beds so that it is convenient to approach them.
This variety requires very simple care. They tolerate drought well, so you don't have to water them often if this is a problem. They form very few stepsons that need to be split off. Do not forget to feed these crops with fertilizer during growth; fertile soil is extremely important for tomatoes.
