Description of the variety
The period of early maturation of "Artemis" is 45 days. After this time, harvesting can begin, but the tubers reach their maximum weight (120 grams) only 2 months after planting.
REFERENCE : “Artemis” produces an average yield (230-350 centners per hectare) relative to other varieties. For example, the varieties “Borovichok” or “Krasavchik” give a maximum of 280 c/ha, and “Zhuravinka” or “Skarb” - up to 650 c/ha. It has been established that on good soil with proper care, Artemis can produce 580 c/ha.
Bushes
The stem is erect, reaching a height of 30-40cm. The leaf is medium sized, almost even. The plant has a powerfully developed root system, which explains the large number of tubers.

Tubers
A large bush produces up to 25 marketable tubers, not counting small things. The starch content is average - up to 15%. Each potato is heavy and dense.
Taste characteristics:
- Rich potato taste;
- Highly structured pulp, minimal liquid content.
Description and characteristics of the variety
Potato Artemis “Elite” is part of the group of early varieties, bred by breeders from Holland. Ripening from the moment of planting begins after 60-70 days. The first digging can be done after 45-47 days.
Plants grow up to 40 cm, shoots are located straight and do not fall over. The root system is especially developed.
What are the distinctive features of tubers:
- weight 80-100 g;
- dense consistency;
- starch content 14-15%;
- the color of the peel and pulp is yellow;
- round-oval shape;
- rich classic taste.
Up to 25 tubers ripen on massive bushes.
Taste rating: 4.6 points. Potatoes are widely used in culinary recipes for frying, frying, baking, and stewing. Due to the low starch content, it is not used for puree. The value of potatoes is that when cooked, the flesh does not darken or disintegrate.
The harvest is stored for up to 7-8 months. The temperature should be 3-4 degrees Celsius.
Origin
The Artemis potato was developed in Holland. In Russia, the variety is cultivated in the Central and Volga-Vyatka regions. Included in the State Register since 2008. The originator of the variety is an agricultural company from the Netherlands AGRICO UA
Peculiarities
Characteristics of this variety:
- Like other fast-ripening varieties, “Artemis” is planted only in well-warmed soil on the 20th of May;
- The harvested crop is stored without germination for up to 7 months (provided the temperature regime is +3*C);
- Thanks to the low level of starch, potatoes keep their shape when cooked and do not darken when cut;
- In cooking it is used for frying and baking. Not suitable for making purees.
How to choose the best potato variety:
Advantages and disadvantages
Pros:
- early ripening friendly harvests;
- complex immunity to pathogens;
- long-term preservation;
- transportability without mechanical damage;
- excellent presentation and taste;
- dense pulp texture;
- adaptation to cultivation conditions;
- drought resistance;
- suitability for mechanized planting, care and digging.
Minuses:
- not suitable for purees;
- does not tolerate shaded areas.
Correct fit
Before planting, it is necessary to carry out pre-planting preparations:
- Treat the seeds with Prestige or Tabu solutions. This will protect the tubers from pests until persistent shoots appear;
- Soak the tubers in growth stimulants Poteytin or Vympel according to the instructions. This procedure allows you to increase productivity by 10%;
- After drying, germinate the seeds in damp sawdust;
- Place humus in the planting holes.
The distance between the holes should be at least 30-35cm, the row spacing should be about 75cm.
IMPORTANT : Early maturing potatoes reach nominal growth rates in well-moistened soil. To comply with this condition, mulching with straw or covering the beds with roofing felt is used (economically beneficial on plots of no more than 1 acre).
Watering
"Artemis" tolerates drought, but in dry soil the potato's potential will not be realized. Depending on the weather, crops are watered 3 times a season, and the soil is moistened to a depth of 0.5 meters. The optimal condition for potato growth is the presence of drip irrigation.

Top dressing
To harvest two crops of Artemis, you need to carry out 2 feedings for each growing season, alternating mineral and organic fertilizers. Spraying with a superphosphate solution a week before harvest gives a good effect.
Potato varieties resistant to bad weather:
Growing and care
For this variety, 2-3 waterings per season are sufficient. If the summer was rainless, water additionally at intervals of 10-12 days. It is convenient to organize a drip irrigation system.
The depth of soil wetting is 40-50 cm.
Fertilizing is applied up to 3 times per season. Alternate mineral mixtures and organic matter (mullein, bio-infusions, litter). The Bulba, Giant, Kemira complexes are useful. Before 1 hilling, water with urea (20 g dissolved per 10 l). Before flowering, mullein solutions and herbal teas with ash are prepared.
A superphosphate solution is suitable for foliar irrigation. The following mixture gives a good effect when sprayed:
- 10 liters of water;
- 5 g boric acid;
- 150 g of potassium monophosphate.
Irrigation is carried out 2 times with an interval of 15-16 days.
Hilling should be done at intervals of 20-25 days. When the bushes grow to 8-10 cm, they are hilled for the first time. Then the procedure is repeated when the shoots reach a length of 20-25 cm. At the same time, loosening and weeding are carried out. The ridges are poured to a height of first 5-6 cm, then 6-8 cm are added with each subsequent hilling.
Farmers are advised to trim the tops on the eve of harvesting, this contributes to an additional increase in the mass of tuber crops.
Diseases and pests
"Artemis" is highly resistant to diseases:
- Cancer;
- Leaf roll virus;
- Potato nematode;
- Late blight of tubers.
The plant is moderately resistant to the following diseases:
- Common scab;
- Virus X.
Late blight
“Artemis” is most susceptible to leaf blight. To avoid the onset of the disease, it is necessary to follow preventive measures :
- Be sure to treat the seeds before planting;
- Do not damage the integrity of the tubers when digging;
- Immediately destroy infected bushes.
Late blight on potatoes:
Pests
Dressing will protect potatoes at an early stage from numerous soil pests. During the growing season, Colorado beetles, aphids, wireworms and spider mites become enemies of Artemis.
To preserve the harvest, it is necessary to promptly treat the seedlings with insecticides.:
- Contact: Ripcord, Microcin;
- Systemic action: Bazudin, Belt.
