Tomatoes do not tolerate frost quite well, so the optimal time for planting in open ground is considered to be mid or late May (15th–25th). In addition, it is necessary to follow a special diagram that indicates the correct placement of bushes on the site. It is important to remember that tomatoes grow tall and large, so they need to be planted 40 x 60 cm apart.

The first harvest of Diabolik is obtained in July. All ripe fruits are harvested immediately, leaving the stalk behind. On cloudy and cool days, green tomatoes are also harvested, reaching a weight of 90 g. They ripen perfectly on the windowsill. In this way you can protect the plant from late blight.

The Diabolic tomato is gastronomically versatile. It is suitable for fresh consumption, canning, and drying.

Tomatoes of the Diabolik variety are grown by seedlings. For full development, plants need a well-lit area with low groundwater. The plants are undemanding regarding the soil, but the yield will be higher if you take care in advance to lighten it and increase its nutritional value. It is also worth monitoring the acidity of the soil. The optimal value is 5.5 pH.

Did you know? In 1893, when high customs taxes were introduced on vegetables, an American court recognized tomatoes as vegetables, despite their botanical identity as pericarpous polylocular berries, because they were served for lunch and not for dessert. The real title of berry was returned to the tomato by the European Union only in 2001.

Conditions necessary for the normal development of culture:

  • temperature - from 15°C;
  • soil moisture - 50%;
  • air humidity - 70%;
  • lighting - abundant:
  • The duration of daylight hours is at least 12 hours.

Soil treatment

Soil preparation on the site should begin in the fall, when the entire harvest has been harvested. First, you need to remove all plant debris from the site and carry out cultivation to a depth of 30 cm. After which the soil must be disinfected using a 1% solution of copper sulfate or “Fitosporin” according to the instructions. A week after disinfection, the soil is enriched with nutrients and, if necessary, acidity is reduced.

For every 1 m² you need to contribute:

  • 10 kg of sand;
  • 10 kg of manure.

If you need to reduce acidity, you can use dolomite flour (200 g/m²) or wood ash (400 g/m²). When adding deoxidizers to the soil, compost (10 kg/m²) is used instead of manure. After replenishment, the soil is again cultivated to a depth of 20 cm.

In the spring, with the arrival of warmth, the soil must be cultivated again and treated with “Fitosporin”, and a week later, 10 kg of compost and dry manure must be added to each 1 m². Then deep cultivation should be carried out again and the soil should be leveled.

Important! “Fitosporin” is a systemic drug that not only has a disinfecting effect, but also enriches the soil and also increases plant immunity. It can be used for prevention and treatment at any stage of plant development.

An important nuance of growing tomatoes of the variety in question is compliance with crop rotation. Plants cannot be planted in the same place for 3 years. The best predecessors for tomatoes will be green manure plants and legumes. You should not plant tomatoes after other vegetables of the nightshade family.

The composition is treated with “Fitosporin” (5 g of powder per 10 liters of water) or wood ash is added (20% of the total soil mass). You can also disinfect the soil by calcining it in an oven at a temperature of 100°C with the door open.

Diabolic tomato seeds do not require additional processing before planting. Manufacturers have already taken care of this and carried out all the necessary manipulations. Sow the seeds dry in disinfected soil.

Sowing technology

Sowing of seeds is carried out 30–40 days before planting in open ground at the end of March - beginning of April in common containers. Before putting soil into the container, it must be rinsed with Furacilin solution (1 tablet per 100 ml of boiling water).

Sequencing:

  1. After processing the container, place a 1 cm thick layer of expanded clay on the bottom, then lay the soil. Soil moisture should be approximately 50–60%.
  2. Make furrows 1 cm deep and place seeds in them at a distance of 5 cm from each other.
  3. Cover the seeds with soil and spray with warm (30°C) water from a spray bottle.
  4. Cover the surface of the container with transparent film or glass.
  5. Leave the container in a room where the air temperature is maintained within 25°C.

Before emergence, it is necessary to remove the cover every day for 20 minutes and check the quality of the soil. If mold appears, remove a thin layer of soil and replace it with sand. If necessary, moisten the soil with a spray bottle.

When the sprouts appear, remove the cover and move the container to a well-lit windowsill. Gradually reduce the air temperature to 18... 20°C.

After the appearance of 3 full-fledged leaves, you need to pick them into separate containers. To completely eliminate the risk of injury to plants at the stage of final digging into the ground, it is better to use peat pots. At this stage, the soil mixture is prepared according to the same principle as before sowing.

Water the seedlings as needed using a spray bottle.

Before transplanting into open ground, fertilizing should be done 3 times:

  1. With the appearance of the first 2 leaves, add 1.5 potassium salt, 0.5 g of urea, 4 g of superphosphate to 1 liter of water.
  2. 10 days after picking, add 1 tbsp to 10 liters of water in separate containers. l. urea.
  3. 10 days before the final transplant to a permanent place - add 2 g of potassium sulfate, 0.6 g of ammonium nitrate, 4 g of superphosphate to 1 liter of water.

Important! At the stages of active plant growth, superphosphates are used only in combination with water. When placed in the soil, the substance decomposes for a very long time and the effect of its action will be minimal.

For transplanting into open ground, seedlings need to begin to be prepared 10–14 days in advance. The main task at this stage is to adapt the plants to the outdoor climate conditions. To do this, the air temperature in the room is gradually reduced to the outside temperature. At night the air temperature should be 3°C lower than during the day.

After the temperature has decreased to the optimal level, the seedlings are placed on an unglazed balcony during the daytime. The interval of time spent in such conditions should be gradually increased to 12 hours, and the plants should be brought into the house at night. Once this stage is passed, you can leave the seedlings outside and at night. By the time of planting, plants should be free to spend 24 hours outside.

Seedlings begin to be planted in open ground on May 15. For every 1 m², it is permissible to plant no more than 3 plants due to their size.

The area should be marked for holes, holes should be dug with a diameter of 15 cm and a depth of 20 cm, maintaining a distance of 40 cm between them. A space of 60 cm should be left between the rows. If the seedlings are planted in disposable plastic containers, then the day before transplanting, the seedlings must be watered abundantly - this will make it easier to remove seedlings from glasses. But peat pots are placed directly into the holes. The day before picking, the plants are also watered, but moderately.

Before planting, fill a third of the hole with soil and place the plants in it. The voids are filled with earth, lightly compacted around the stem. Then watering is carried out, approximately 300 ml of water per plant. The soil around the stem is mulched with peat or compost.

Harvesting of Diabolic tomatoes begins in August. The fruits must be picked together with the stalks at the stage of technical maturity as they ripen. These tomatoes can stay fresh for a very long time. For storage, they are placed in low wooden boxes, the bottom of which is covered with straw. The fruits should be laid out in layers at a distance of 1 cm from each other and sprinkled with sawdust. In this state, the crop must be placed in a dark place where the air temperature is maintained within 5 ... 10 ° C and humidity - 70%.

So, the tomato variety Diabolik F1 is attractive for its high resistance to diseases and stable yield under any conditions. When growing it, you need to remember that to increase productivity it is necessary to provide these tomatoes with good lighting.

Based on the ripening period, Diabolik is considered a mid-early and mid-season tomato variety. With the appearance of the first shoots, about 100–105 days pass, and the tomatoes become fully ripe. In this case, fruiting lasts for 1–1.5 months. This is convenient as it allows you to collect the fruits gradually.

A distinctive feature of the hybrid is its yield, which is significantly increased, unlike other varieties. Moreover, we are talking about tomatoes, which also have increased productivity. This fact is influenced by many nuances that accompany a gardener when growing crops. From 1 sq. m of plot, 15–20 kg of ripe tomatoes are obtained per season.

Varietal characteristics of tomato Diabolik

In 2007, she developed the Diabolic F1 tomato. A year later, this variety was zoned for planting in the central regions of the country and entered into the State Register. This variety is suitable for growing both in open ground and in protected ground.

Varietal characteristics of tomato Diabolik

Characteristic

Tomato Diabolik F1 is classified as a first-generation hybrid, so seeds collected from last year’s fruits cannot be used for planting in the new season. The fruits of the variety ripen within 100 days from the moment the seeds are sown.

Description of the bush

Bushes of the Diabolik F1 variety are determinate. This means that at a certain point their growth will stop, and a cluster of flowers will form at their top. A minimum number of stepsons are formed on such bushes, which facilitates the process of caring for the crop.

The average height of plants is 70-80 cm. Despite the optional pinning, the crop needs staking. Inflorescence of complex type. The foliage and stems are compact, making them easy to care for.

The root system is developed, which helps the plant quickly gain a foothold in the soil. This protects the bushes from deformation during periods of strong wind.

Description of fruits

According to the description, the fruits of the Diabolik F1 variety have the following characteristics:

  • oblong shape, reminiscent of plum fruits;
  • tomatoes grow weighing 100-150 g;
  • after ripening, the fruits become scarlet;
  • the flesh is deep pink;
  • the presence of several seed chambers.

Productivity and fruiting

Diabolik tomato bushes bear fruit for 1-2 months, and the first fruits are harvested at the end of July. Their mass ripening begins in August. Such timing ensures gradual harvesting, which allows you to enjoy vegetables before the first frost.

A feature of tomato is its high yield characteristics. Due to the crop's resistance to drought and low temperatures, up to 20 kg of high-quality tomatoes are harvested from 1 m².

Advantages and disadvantages

Characteristics of the advantages of tomato variety Diabolik F1:

  • resistance to fruit cracking;
  • possibility of long-term storage;
  • suitable for long distance transportation;
  • big harvest;
  • resistance to nematode, fusarium and blight.

The only drawback of this variety, according to the description, is its light requirements. Planting is carried out in areas that are not shaded by other plants. Even a small shadow falling on tomatoes will reduce their yield significantly.

Tatyana Orlova (Vasilidchenko) (candidate of agricultural sciences):

All varieties of tomatoes are exclusively light-loving. None of them are shade-tolerant. Yes, a tomato plant can be planted in partial shade and it will not die, but it will not bear fruit either.

Resistance to diseases and pests

The variety is resistant to diseases

Tomato is highly resistant to most diseases. The genetics of this crop protect it from fusarium, verticillium and bacterial spot.

According to the description, the Diabolik variety is resistant to most parasites of tomato crops. It is not affected by wireworms and codling moths.

Tatyana Orlova (Vasilidchenko) (candidate of agricultural sciences):

The codling moth affects only fruit crops, apple trees, plums, pears, etc. The wireworm can only damage tomato seedlings at the stage of planting in the ground. The main pests of tomato are aphids, whiteflies, and cotton bollworm.

Use of fruits

Tomatoes of this variety are universal in use. Due to the large amount of vitamins and minerals in their composition, they are suitable for fresh consumption. Thanks to a small amount of dry matter, they make delicious tomato paste.

The fruits are used to create delicious sauces, and the small size of the fruits allows them to be used for whole-fruit preservation.

Tatyana Orlova (Vasilidchenko) (candidate of agricultural sciences):

The fruits of the Diabolik variety are large enough for whole-fruit canning (weight up to 150 g).

Growing seedlings

To grow quality tomatoes, you will need seedlings. Because This crop is a hybrid; last year's fruits are not used to obtain seeds. The seed is sown after pre-treatment:

  • disinfect the seeds with a solution of potassium permanganate (1 g per 1 liter of water) to destroy all bacteria and fungi;
  • harden in the refrigerator for several days to prepare them for sudden changes in temperature.

Sow seeds in clean boxes or containers. The best time for sowing is March. A small amount of home-prepared substrate is poured into the container. It is necessary to mix compost, humus, sand and garden soil in equal proportions.

When the soil is in the seedling boxes, make large depressions in it (literally 1 cm). Seeds are placed inside and sprinkled with peat.

For quick germination, containers are placed in a warm place, protected from sunlight. For the same purpose, cover the boxes with film. After 5-7 days, when shoots appear, the containers are transferred to the windowsill so that the sun warms them up. Immediately remove the cover so as not to provoke soil rotting. If natural light is not enough, use phytolamps.

Transplanting seedlings

You need to transplant the seedlings to a permanent place after 5-6 leaves appear on it. Their formation occurs in May, so at the end of this month they begin planting. The planting site should be well lit and protected from drafts.

Tomatoes of the Diabolik variety need fertile, light soils with low acidity.

In the fall, the planting site is prepared by removing weeds and adding humus (10 g per 1 m²). A week before transplantation, mark out the area, following a 50x70 pattern. Such distances will ensure ease of crop care. Further steps for transplantation are as follows:

  • dig a hole 20 cm deep;
  • pour in 0.5-1 liters of warm water;
  • when the liquid is absorbed, seedlings are placed in the recesses;
  • sprinkle the holes with soil and compact them a little;
  • Each bush is covered with earth.

To grow delicious Diabolic tomatoes, provide the crop with proper care. Your actions determine how resistant the plants will be to adverse factors.

Good care improves the immunity of tomatoes

Care activities are carried out during certain growing seasons. Regular loosening of the soil will strengthen the plants' immune system.

Watering

An important stage in caring for tomatoes is watering. It is carried out from the first days of planting. Young plants need timely watering, because... their root system is just forming. Moisten the soil at intervals of 1 time every 5-7 days, pouring 1-2 liters of warm water per bush. Adult plants are watered once a week, using 5-6 liters of liquid.

After irrigation work, loosen the soil. Thanks to this procedure, nutrients, water and oxygen penetrate better into the roots. It is worth removing weeds manually, because... using garden tools, you can disrupt the structure of the stem and will not remove the grass from the roots.

Feeding

Fertilizing is an important step in caring for Diabolic tomatoes. Fertilizing is applied 3 times during the entire growing season:

  • for the first, mineral substances are used that have a beneficial effect on the growth of bushes and the formation of the ovary. At the stage of appearance of the 5th pair of leaves, the crop is watered with a solution of ammonium nitrate (30 g per 10 liters of water). 0.5 liters of fertilizer are applied to each bush;
  • The tomatoes are fertilized with organic matter a second time. It is preferable to use humus (3 kg per 10 liters of water). It contains the maximum amount of nutrients required by tomatoes. Bird droppings cannot be used, because... it can provoke dryness of the bushes and the death of the entire crop. The second application of fertilizers is carried out at the stage of ovary formation. Use a solution of 3 liters per bush;
  • The third time the plant is fed with phosphorus-potassium fertilizers (30-40 g per 10 liters of water), when the fruits begin to form. These components have a positive effect on the taste and marketability of the fruit. Under each bush, pour 1-2 liters of the prepared solution.

Formation of bushes

Caring for tomatoes involves not only watering and fertilizing, but also the formation of bushes. Diabolik is formed into 2 stems, so at the level of 2 pairs of leaves, all shoots are removed.

The culture does not need pinching. This is due to the fact that the bushes are already limited in growth.

Protection from diseases and pests

Among the most common diseases of this crop is powdery mildew. To prevent this disease, carry out the following actions:

Growing tomatoes

Tomatoes of the Diabolik F1 variety are not too demanding to care for.

The main agrotechnical measures carried out after planting in open ground:

  • fertilization;
  • watering;
  • garter;
  • soil aeration.

In total, tomatoes of this variety must be fertilized 3 times after planting them in open ground:

  • 10 days after transplantation;
  • with the appearance of buds;
  • with the appearance of ovaries.

At this stage, you should not be overzealous with fertilizers containing nitrogen - this will provoke lush growth of greenery and deprive you of your harvest. For the first time, you can use a solution of cow dung. It needs to be diluted with water in a ratio of 1:2 and 200 ml applied to each bush.

The second feeding is carried out using a solution of wood ash: 400 g of the substance should be added to 10 liters of water. This amount of solution is enough to treat 1 m² of plantings.

For the third feeding, a yeast solution is used. To prepare it, add 2 packs of yeast 3 tbsp to 50 liters of water. l. sugar 5 kg of fresh nettles along with tops. This solution should be left to steep for 1 day, then add 10 liters per m².

Watering

Soil moistening is carried out as necessary, taking into account weather conditions. Young plants are watered daily in the evening, pouring 800 ml of water per plant, and adult specimens are moistened with 3–5 liters every 3 days.

Important! Watering of tomatoes must be stopped completely if the rainy season begins.

The water temperature should be similar to the ambient temperature ± 3°C. Watering should prevent moisture from entering the above-ground part, otherwise the risk of rot increases. The best option is to use a drip irrigation system or a channel irrigation system, when water is supplied directly to the root.

The application of root fertilizers is combined with watering.

Stepsoning

Tomato bushes should be formed into 2 stems. The garter is carried out when the bush reaches a height of 25 cm. It is convenient to use horizontal trellises for gartering. To prepare them, you need to drive in several support stakes along the entire length of the row and stretch 2-3 rows of rope between them.

The first rope is pulled at a height of 25 cm from the ground surface. As the branches grow, they must be fixed to the trellises using natural fabric or special clamps, which can be found in hardware stores.

Loosening of the soil is carried out regularly after each moistening of the soil. Directly next to the plant, you should loosen the soil to a depth of 5 cm, in row spacing - 10 cm. Along the way, you should remove weeds and inspect the bushes for diseases and pests.

This hybrid belongs to the class of determinant carpals. That is, the growth of Diabolik F1 bushes stops when flowers form at the top. The fruits ripen in clusters on the plants. It is believed that tomatoes of this variety are excellent for both pickling and salads. The Diabolik F1 hybrid belongs to the mid-season class.

The bushes of this variety of tomatoes are very powerful and well-leafed. They reach a height of approximately 1.4-1.6 m. The leaves of tomatoes are bright green and medium in size. Up to 10 fruits can be formed in a brush at the same time.

Compact, neat fruits are also why the Diabolik F1 tomato has earned good reviews from gardeners. The photos of such tomatoes presented on the page above clearly demonstrate their attractive appearance. Actually, the tomatoes themselves of this variety are small in size and elongated in shape. Their skin color is bright red, and their flesh is dark pink. The fruits of Diabolik F1 weigh approximately 100-160 grams.

The Diabolik F1 tomato is intended for open ground. It does not belong to the self-pollinating class. And, therefore, it is unlikely that it will be possible to obtain good yields from this hybrid in a greenhouse.

Tomatoes are planted in the second ten days of May. It is important that the soil warms up by this time.

Before transplanting, seedlings must be prepared. Plants are fed and watered three days before planting.

Landing in the ground

The soil for tomatoes has been prepared since autumn. Beds suitable for this crop are dug up. The best precursors for tomatoes are cabbage, carrots, onions and cucumbers. Planting in an area where nightshades grew will increase the likelihood of disease.

In autumn, enrich the soil with fertilizers. For 1 sq. m of land take 60 g of superphosphate, 5 kg of humus and 30 g of potassium salt. In the spring, the soil is dug up again, removing all plant roots, and fertilized. To do this, for 1 sq. m, 25 ammonium sulfate, 1 kg of ash and the same amount of bird droppings are scattered.

Two days before planting in open ground, seedlings are watered with a solution of copper oxychloride. To do this, take 15 g of copper oxychloride per 5 ml of water.

To plant Diabolik, holes are dug in rows 20 cm deep. For this, a 40x60 pattern is used. Before planting, the tomatoes are taken out of the pots along with the soil and placed in holes that are filled with water. Then the holes are filled with soil.

Rules of care

Diabolic tomatoes are a determinate variety. It reaches a height of 1.6 m. Therefore, plant staking is required. To do this, use wooden supports or trellises.

The Diabolik hybrid produces a small number of stepsons. Therefore, stepsoning is not necessary. Usually the bushes are formed into three stems.

Water the plants as the soil dries out.

Tomatoes are fed at least three times during the season. For these purposes, purchased or homemade fertilizers are used.

Recipes for feeding tomatoes:

  1. The first time the plants are fed with fertilizer containing bird droppings. To prepare it, take 0.5 kg of litter, 0.1 kg of potassium sulfate and 0.4 kg of superphosphate per 10 liters of water. All components are thoroughly mixed. Fertilizing is applied at the root at the rate of 1 liter per 1 tomato.
  2. When the first buds appear, the tomatoes are fed a second time. To do this, take 1 kg of ash and 5 g of boric acid per 5 liters of water. The fertilizer is infused for 24 hours. For each tomato take 1 liter of this composition.
  3. When fruits appear on the plant, do the next feeding. Mix 5 liters of water with 0.5 tbsp. l. potassium humate and 1 tbsp. l. superphosphate. 1 liter of composition is consumed per plant.

Nuances of cultivation

When growing tomatoes, it is important for a gardener to know several nuances. This will help grow healthy plants and reap a rich harvest.

  1. For the Diabolik hybrid, choose the most illuminated place on the site. In this case, there will be the highest yields.
  2. Yellowed leaves and ugly inflorescences are removed. This procedure will preserve the health of the plants and speed up the ripening of the fruits.
  3. Watering and planting are carried out in the evening. During this period, the risks of plant infection are reduced.
  4. Tomato beds are loosened after each watering and rain. This helps improve root air exchange.
  5. When roots appear on the stems, the plants are earthed up. This sign indicates that the tomatoes lack nutrients.

Tomato Diabolik is resistant to most fungal diseases and root nematode. Therefore, the use of chemicals for preventive purposes is not necessary.

To keep plants healthy, you need to follow all the rules of watering and planting, as well as disinfect the soil and seeds. Choosing the right planting location also matters.

Home remedies are used to prevent crown and root rot. For example, plants are sprayed with a composition prepared from 0.5 tbsp. l. calcium nitrate diluted in 5 liters of water.

Plants are treated against insects with a decoction of chamomile or celandine. Such compositions are sprayed on the above-ground parts of plants without getting on the soil.

Advantages of a hybrid:

  • unpretentiousness;
  • high productivity;
  • resistance to most diseases;
  • resistance to cold and heat;
  • possibility of growing in open and protected ground;
  • versatility of crop use.

Diabolik has no shortcomings. This is one of the most productive and unpretentious hybrids.

Description of the tomato variety Diabolik F1

Tomato Diabolic F1 was developed relatively recently in Japan. The hybrid came to Russia thanks to the French branch in 2007, and already in 2008 it was included in the State Register. The variety has been zoned for cultivation in open ground in the southern and central regions of the country, in particular in the North Caucasus region. In more northern regions, this garden plant is recommended to be grown in greenhouse conditions.

The Diabolik F1 variety belongs to the determinate medium-growing variety, where the bush can reach no more than 1.5 m and independently stop its growth after the development of the upper ovary. The average height of the Diabolik F1 plant varies from 70 to 90 cm. It has few stepsons, so there is no need to pinch them. But a garter is required.

The tomato bush is powerful, the stem is quite thick and strong. The root system of Diabolik F1 is massive, but the foliage is weak. The leaf blades themselves are medium in size, leathery, light green in color. Pedicel with articulation.

Few ovaries are formed - about 8-10 pieces. on a bush. Inflorescences of a complex type, which can be formed in clusters of 10 yellow flowers.

Description of fruits

Diabolik F1 tomato fruits are medium in size, approximately 70-150 g. Their shape is elliptical. When unripe, tomatoes have a light green hue, which changes to bright red when ripe. In this case, the stalk does not have a green spot.

The skin of the Diabolik F1 fruit is smooth, glossy and quite durable. The pulp is dense, fleshy, moderately juicy. The dry matter content is approximately 5-7.2%. In a cross section, you can see from two to four chambers with a small number of seeds. The color of the pulp is closer to a dark pink shade.

The taste of tomatoes is sweet and sour, the sugar content in them is only 3-3.9% of the total mass. The aroma is standard, tomato.

Attention! Even when fully ripened on the bunches, the fruits of the Diabolik F1 tomato can retain their taste and appearance for a long time.

Description and characteristics of the variety

Tomato Diabolik F1 is a determinate, medium-growing truss hybrid. The bushes grow strong and powerful, with 7 to 10 fruiting clusters formed on each bush. Tomatoes ripen in appetizing and neat clusters. Each one produces up to 10 fruits.

The height of the bushes reaches 1.5 m. Growth stops when flower clusters form at the top.

Fruit characteristics:

  • elongated shape;
  • color bright red;
  • the skin is strong and does not crack;
  • the pulp is moderately juicy;
  • average weight in the range of 100-160 g.

Ripening time is average - 120-125 days from germination.

Site preparation

Growing Diabolik F1 tomatoes on the plot will not be difficult even for a not very experienced summer resident. In terms of care, this hybrid has received simply excellent reviews from gardeners. The variety, according to many gardeners, is absolutely unpretentious. The Japanese company Sakata supplies seeds of such tomatoes of very high quality. Their germination rate, as already mentioned, is almost one hundred percent.

The seeds of this tomato, accordingly, do not require any special preparation. The only thing is that Diabolik planting material should be treated with a weak solution of potassium permanganate before sowing. This procedure will further reduce the risk of various infectious diseases of tomatoes in the future. Many gardeners also advise soaking the seeds of this tomato in a solution of some growth stimulant.

Ease of care is what, as already mentioned, the Diabolic F1 tomato has earned good reviews for. The beds for this hybrid are prepared in the usual manner. This is a pretty high grade. Therefore, trellises must be installed next to the beds.

It is advisable to dig up the soil for tomatoes using a spade in the fall. In this case, fewer weeds will grow in the garden bed in summer. In the spring, before planting, a little manure or humus should be added to the soil under the tomatoes. Acidic soil should be improved by adding ash or lime. The beds for these tomatoes are formed with a slight slope to drain water.

Reviews from gardeners: advantages of the variety

The Diabolik F1 tomato, described above, has earned a good opinion from gardeners, first of all, for the pleasant taste of the fruit pulp. Tomatoes of this variety are quite juicy. She, like almost any other hybrid, has no sweetness. But Diabolik F1 tastes, according to summer residents, at least not bland.

Gardeners also include the following benefits of the variety:

  • excellent keeping quality;
  • dense pulp.

Even after quite long storage, Diabolik fruits do not crack. Because of their dense pulp, they do not fall apart in jars when salted or pickled.

Gardeners consider the advantages of the plants themselves of this variety to be:

  • the ability to produce excellent harvests even under the most unfavorable weather conditions;
  • almost one hundred percent germination of seeds;
  • resistance to fusarium and verticillium wilt;
  • resistance to gray and bacterial spot;
  • resistance to different types of root nematodes.

Actually, the seeds of these tomatoes themselves are much cheaper than Dutch ones. At the same time, the Diabolik F1 tomato, which has good reviews also for this reason, is much better adapted to the Russian climate.

Growing seedlings

Like most other tomato varieties, Diabolik F1 is a fairly heat-loving variety. The fruits on it ripen approximately 4 months after planting. Therefore, the Diabolik F1 tomato, about which there are actually quite good reviews, is grown, usually using the seedling method.

Sowing takes place around mid-March. First, soil is poured into the boxes (best purchased for tomatoes). Next, the soil is compacted and thoroughly watered. A day later they begin the actual planting. The seeds are distributed evenly and not too thickly over the soil surface. Next, they are covered with a layer of earth about 1 cm.

The soil over the seeds is compacted. Experienced summer residents do not recommend planting Diabolik F1 tomato planting material in too thin a layer. Otherwise, the sprouts will definitely sprout with “caps” of seeds that did not have time to swell well and fall off. This can lead to the fact that some plants will simply die in the future.

After the tomatoes sprout, they will most likely need to be thinned out a little. Diabolik F1 tomatoes peak when one or two first true leaves appear on them. Before planting the bush, add a little superphosphate to each glass. When transporting, the main taproot is slightly pinched (if its tip does not come off during removal from the ground).

Seeds are sown 55-60 days before planting tomatoes in open ground. Tomatoes are planted when the soil reaches the optimal temperature.

In most regions, seeds are sown in March. Before this, you need to look at the indicators of the lunar calendar.

Seed preparation

To speed up seed germination and increase their germination rate, it is necessary to prepare planting material. This will prevent the plants from becoming infected.

Preparing seeds for planting:

  1. The seeds are soaked for half an hour in a saline solution. Those that float are removed, and those that sink to the bottom are washed and dried.
  2. The planting material is wrapped in gauze and immersed for half an hour in hydrogen peroxide or a solution of potassium permanganate. After this, it must be washed under running water.
  3. Stimulating growth helps seeds grow faster. For these purposes, different compositions are used, for example, “Epin”. Among home remedies, soaking seeds in a soda solution shows good results.

Before you start sowing seeds, select suitable containers for them. Large boxes and trays are sold in gardening stores. Homemade pots are also used for these purposes. You can make containers for sowing seeds by cutting a square-shaped bottle lengthwise, taking a jar of herring and sea cocktail, or using deep disposable plates.

To transplant already sprouted tomatoes, special containers are used. They must have a volume of at least 3 liters.

To grow seedlings, you need to prepare the soil. To do this, mix peat, humus and sand in equal proportions. A little ash and superphosphate are added to the composition. Purchased soil is also used. For tomatoes, choose soil that has a light composition.

The soil and containers are disinfected before use. The easiest way is to pour hot water over them.

After all the preparatory work has been completed, planting begins. To do this, grooves 1 cm deep are made in the soil. The distance between the grooves should be at least 3 cm. The seeds are laid out at a distance of 2 cm from each other.

The top of the grooves is sprinkled with a thin layer of earth. The seeds are moistened with warm water using a spray bottle. The container is covered with film or glass and placed in a warm place.

Seedling care

Only by following all the rules for caring for seedlings will it be possible to grow healthy and viable plants. The list contains the basic rules:

  1. When all the seeds have sprouted, the film is removed. The box with seedlings is moved to a well-lit place.
  2. To prevent the plants from stretching out, after the first shoots appear, they are placed in a cool place with a temperature of 12 degrees. After a week, the tomatoes are returned to the premises.
  3. Water the tomatoes as the soil dries. To do this, use warm, settled water. Moisten the soil so that water does not get on the greens.
  4. The plants are fed three times during the entire period of growing seedlings. For this, complex fertilizers are used. The first time tomatoes are fertilized two weeks after picking the seedlings.
  5. Before planting in a permanent place, the seedlings are hardened off. To do this, tomatoes are placed outside every day, gradually increasing the time they stay there.

Growing

Initially, Diabolik tomatoes were most suitable for growing in open ground in the North Caucasus region. Despite this, it can be planted in other southern places. If it is northern latitudes, the plant will need shelter. Diabolic requires good sunlight. If there is a deficiency in this regard, the plant will not produce well.

Growing a crop begins with sowing a seed in the ground. The most suitable period is the last week of March. Seeds are placed in a gauze bag and filled with infusion of potassium permanganate. This will help disinfect future seedlings. If desired, the seeds are soaked in solutions that stimulate the growth of tomatoes.

It is recommended to plant seedlings in open ground in the last weeks of May, when the threat of frost has passed. The diameter of the hole is from 12 to 15 cm, and the depth is no more than 20 cm. Make an indent of 40 cm between the holes. Row spacing is 50–55 cm wide.

Before planting seedlings, water the soil generously with soil. The seedlings are removed from the glasses with soil. The sprouts are placed in the holes and covered with soil, watering the soil again.

Advantages and disadvantages

Without taking into account the pros and cons of a particular variety of tomatoes, it will be difficult to properly organize work on the site.

  • The main advantages of the Diabolik F1 tomato variety:
  • stable yield under unfavorable conditions;
  • immunity to most fungal diseases and bacterial rot;
  • high taste and commercial qualities, which allows the products to be used for commercial purposes.
  • Among the disadvantages are:
  • the need to tie up bushes;
  • dependence of yield on the light source.

Advantages and disadvantages:

  • the fruits do not crack when ripe, last a long time and tolerate transportation well;
  • high yield. Regardless of weather conditions, about 10 kg of berries can be collected from one bush;
  • persistent immunity to Phomopsis, bacterial spot and verticillium;
  • Diabolik tomatoes are not prone to root nematodes.

The disadvantages of summer residents include the fact that seedlings need to select a particularly bright place. Even a small shade can lead to a significant reduction in yield.

When to plant

Judging by the reviews of summer residents, Diabolik F1 tomatoes tolerate frost very poorly. Therefore, seedlings of this variety should be planted in open ground no earlier than May 15-20. This period of time for this mid-season hybrid will be optimal, for example, in the Moscow region or in the Urals.

Diabolik F1 seedlings are planted according to a 40 x 60 cm pattern. Bushes cannot be placed more often. These tomatoes grow quite spreading and large. Tomatoes in glasses are watered a day before planting. They are pulled out when transferred to the garden bed along with a lump of earth (kneading the cup with your hands). After all the seedlings have been planted, they are lightly watered and shaded with something. It is also a good idea to mulch the bed.

About the origin of the Diabolic tomato

Diabolic was developed by the European division of Sakata Seed Corporation (Japan). The main office is located in Yokohama. The corporation is engaged in the creation of varieties and hybrids, cultivation and sale of seeds around the world. It is a key player in the seed market for cabbage, carrots, tomatoes, peppers, watermelons and melons. There are more than 900 commercial varieties available.

European office of Sakata - the originator of the Diabolic tomato

In 1998, the European headquarters of Sakata Vegetables Europe opened in the south of France. It was French specialists who submitted an application to test and register the Diabolic tomato in Russia. This foreigner has been listed in the State Register of Selection Achievements since 2008.

Growing features: proper watering

Diabolik F1 tomatoes, according to experienced gardeners, cannot tolerate too much overwatering, just like drought. It is best to water this hybrid in the morning and only at the root. Water should not get on the leaves of plants. Otherwise, their plates may become deformed and become “accumulators” of late blight spores. Water for watering tomatoes should be used warm, standing in a garden container for at least a day.

At first, seedlings planted in the ground are moistened moderately. You should not flood the tomato bed too much. This can lead to stunted plant development.

In summer, grown tomatoes are usually watered abundantly. But, of course, it’s not worth creating a swamp under the bushes. A day later, the soil under the tomatoes is loosened, removing weeds. Next time, the soil in the garden bed is moistened only after it begins to dry out.

Diseases and pests

The variety is resistant to many fungal diseases and even bacterial rot. The only disease that often appears when watering rules are not followed is blossom end rot.

There is no complete treatment for this disease; the only way is prevention, which consists of the following:

  • selection of sites for planting with moisture-absorbing soils;
  • compliance with the irrigation regime;
  • maintaining the optimal distance between plants;
  • ensuring normal ventilation when growing in greenhouses.

Among the pests dangerous for this variety are:

  • Colorado potato beetle - to eliminate it, use the drug “Confidor” (dissolve 1 g of the drug in 100 ml of water at room temperature and add 1 liter of water);
  • aphids - the drug "Confidor" is also suitable for combating the parasite.

Important! When fighting pests, you cannot use the same insecticide every time.

Prevention of diseases and pests is through high-quality agricultural technology. Most pests and fungal spores overwinter in the upper layers of the soil, so special attention should be paid to deep soil cultivation during the preparatory stages, as well as throughout the growing season.

The growing popularity of tomato is due to its good resistance to a number of viral diseases. The immune system protects against bacterial spot, Phomopsis and verticillium. Despite this, Diabolik often suffers from blossom end rot. To avoid the development of the disease, it is necessary to follow the rules of care - monitor watering.

How to fertilize

According to many summer residents, seedlings of the Diabolik F1 hybrid planted in open ground for the first time should be fed with chicken droppings. According to experienced gardeners, this will help the bushes begin to grow faster. You just need to shake the droppings in 5 liters of water. To the resulting liquid fertilizer you should add 250 grams of potassium sulfate and saltpeter for two tomatoes.

The second time, gardeners advise feeding these tomatoes two weeks later with the same composition (but this time for one bush). For the third time, the tomatoes are fertilized after 21 days with a mixture of ammonium nitrate, potassium chloride and superphosphate, diluted in 5 liters of water.
