The substance in the shell or inside the viable cells of the fungus turns into hydrogen sulfide. Hydrogen sulfide is fungitoxic.

Disadvantages in general are associated only with restrictions on the use of the drug:

• Sulfur is effective only in a narrow temperature range (18-28°C). At temperatures below 20°C the drug is weakly effective, and at temperatures above 35°C it damages the leaves.
• At temperatures up to +18°C, maximum standards must be used, and at temperatures above +35°C, lower standards must be used.
• Do not use the drug when plants suffer from drought.
