De Barao tomatoes: preparing strong seedlings
Work with seed material of this variety begins no later than the end of February. Sow both in boxes and immediately in separate containers.
To prevent damage to the root system of seedlings during transplantation, it is better to sow directly into cups with a height of at least 12 centimeters and a diameter of at least 15 centimeters. If you still decide to grow seedlings with picks, then place the seeds in a box at a distance of at least 3 centimeters from each other and 5 centimeters between the rows. I usually sow 30-50% more seeds than necessary, so that in the future I can cull weak and non-viable plants.
After sowing, containers with seeds are covered with film until mass shoots appear. Usually loops of tomato sprouts appear already on the 5-6th day. Further care of the seedlings is standard, so I will not describe it in the article, especially since the main highlight of this unusual method of growing De Barao is not this.

Agricultural technology
Seeds for seedlings are planted in early March to a depth of 2-3 cm. By May, the plants are ready for transplanting into open ground or under film cover.
Considering the tallness and spreading nature of the variety, the holes should be placed at a distance of 90 cm, and the planting density should be no more than 2 bushes per square meter. Young plants need feeding; when planting, humus or compost is added to the ground.
The need for watering is at least once a week. After watering, the soil must be loosened.
Tall De Barao tomato need to be tied to a support immediately after planting in the ground. The plant must be pruned regularly, removing side shoots every 4-5 days. It is better to do this in the morning or in sunny weather so that the wounds dry out.
When the fruits on the first lower cluster are completely filled, the leaves under it can be removed, tearing off 2-3 leaves as they ripen.
If the bush has reached a gigantic height, you can limit its growth by cutting off the top.
The variety is resistant to late blight and thrives in different climatic zones, so growing these unpretentious tomatoes is not difficult.
Features of cultivation
“De Barao Pink” is very unpretentious in cultivation and, with good support, grows to gigantic sizes: up to 2 meters. The plant tolerates shade and temperature changes well. Forms beautiful rich clusters of fruits that require garter.
If this type of tomato is grown in open ground, then only the southern regions are suitable for this. This variety can be grown in greenhouses in the regions of central Russia. Colder regions are not suitable for this type of tomato.
“De Barao Pink” responds well to fertilizing with mineral fertilizers. During active growth, abundant watering is needed. It produces a friendly ovary and bears fruit for a very long time until severe cold weather.

Growing tomatoes yourself
The southern and central regions of the country are more suitable for planting tomatoes. Especially where there are plains and not a mountainous surface. Always follow the rules of plant care. Temperature, humidity, fertilizer and pest control are all components of a successful harvest. Reviews about the species in question are extremely positive, and the detailed description only suggests that it is ideal.
Growing pink tomatoes does not require any special skills. To begin, decide on the place to sow the seeds. The soil should be fertilized and fluffed beforehand. Then sow the tomato seeds, dig them in with soil and water them. Lay a film on top to create condensation, which will help your seedlings sprout faster.
When small sprouts appear from the ground, they will need to be transplanted into pots. You can plant bushes in the ground in May, when the warm weather stabilizes. It is better to plant the tomato near the fence, this will make it more convenient to grow tall tomatoes. Moreover, the shadow is not an obstacle to the growth of pink tomatoes and the process of ripeness. Take care of supports for tomatoes in advance, because their height is two meters and above. Place tall supports around the perimeter of the vegetable planting, and tie up the plant as it grows.
This type of tomato grows better in warm southern regions than in cold northern regions. If you are using a greenhouse to grow such a vegetable, make sure in advance that there is enough space for the tall plant. After all, if the bush does not have enough space, it will affect the yield.
Diseases and pests
The plant has good immunity to late blight. To prevent fungal diseases and fruit rot, greenhouses must be regularly ventilated and the correct light and temperature conditions must be maintained.
This tomato is often susceptible to blossom end rot. This phenomenon can affect the entire plant. It is provoked by a lack of calcium or water in the soil. Spraying with wood ash also helps against this disease.
Among the harmful insects it can be affected by melon aphids and thrips, the drug “Zubr” is successfully used against them.
“De Barao Pink” is rightfully considered one of the most interesting varieties. This tall, beautiful plant will decorate your garden. If you have enough space in the greenhouse or on the plot, be sure to plant this interesting species and a large harvest for the whole family will be guaranteed. Happy gardening season!
