Chemical composition and properties of the drug Thanos
This drug contains two active substances: cymoxanil (25%) and famoxadone (25%). The first substance has a systemic effect on pathogenic fungi. After treatment, cymoxanide penetrates into the foliage cells of cultivated plants in about an hour. The product does not enter the cell sap, so it does not spread throughout the plant, but remains at the spray site.
The second substance remains on the surface of the leaf blades, enveloping them completely, and prevents the penetration of fungi and their spores into garden and vegetable crops. This substance belongs to contact drugs. The product “sticks” well to the foliage and is not washed off by rain. After treatment, all fungal spores die within 1 hour.

As a result, Thanos fungicide simultaneously destroys fungal spores that have affected foliage and shoots, and also prevents the growth of mycelium, regardless of how developed they are.
On a note!
After treating plants affected by the fungus, the therapeutic effect lasts 48 hours, and then Thanos begins to protect the crop from re-infection with pathogens.
This drug is water-soluble granules that, when diluted in water, turn into an emulsion. The product is resistant to sudden changes in temperature, does not generate dust when sprayed, and does not turn into crystals even if stored improperly. The product is available in 400 g cans and 2 kg bags.
Release form and application features
It comes in the form of small granules with a porous structure that easily dissolve in water. They do not react to temperature fluctuations, do not crystallize and do not disintegrate into dust during storage - provided that the original packaging is sealed.
The instructions for use contain recommendations to use Thanos, alternating it with other fungicidal agents. To prevent some types of fungi from developing resistance to the drug. Preparations with which Thanos can be alternated are fungicides Aktara, Titus, Karate and the like.
The maximum effect after spraying occurs on the second day. During this time, the protective film on the waxy part of the leaf is completely formed, and cymoxanil, moving through the plant from bottom to top, evenly fills all volumes.
Fungicide Thanos: preparation of working solution for treatment
The working liquid of this fungicidal agent is prepared immediately before treatment. The required amount of Thanos is diluted in a liter of water, poured into the spray tank and the remaining water is added to the required volume, stirring with a special stirrer until the liquid is homogeneous. Small and medium nozzles are used for spraying.
Important!
For the effective effect of Thanos fungicide on plants, it is necessary to follow the dosages for each individual type of crop specified in the instructions.
Results of demonstration tests of "Thanos" on tomatoes
In 2015, in the Volga region of the Astrakhan region, agronomists tested Thanos on open ground tomatoes. The results of the study were as follows:
- the incidence of macrosporiosis in treated plants compared to the control group is 82.6% less;
- the incidence of septoria is 86.4% lower than in the control group;
- the yield per hectare is 44 tons higher compared to the control group.
The increase in yield was achieved precisely due to a decrease in the incidence of tomatoes. Healthy plants developed a strong root system and strong leaf apparatus, which allowed the tomatoes to produce a good harvest.
Thanos: instructions for use of the drug
To protect cultivated plants in the garden and vegetable garden from fungal diseases, it is necessary to prepare the working fluid according to the instructions and carry out treatments within a certain time frame.

Thanos for vineyard processing
During their growing season, grapevines should be protected from powdery mildew (oidium). To do this, it is necessary to carry out preventive spraying of the grapevines during the growing season with a solution of the Thanos fungicide.
To do this, the drug is diluted as follows:
4 g of the drug is dissolved in a bucket of water.
Spraying the vineyard with Thanos is carried out three times a season:
before the start of flowering, then after the end of flowering with an interval of a couple of weeks. During the treatment process, all shoots, foliage and soil around the vines are generously moistened.
This procedure should be carried out in calm weather, when it is cloudy, or in the evening. 180 minutes after treatment, a protective film is formed on the foliage and shoots, which protects the plants from the penetration of fungi and their spores. For each square of area, 100 ml of working fluid must be used.
On a note!
Fungicide Thanos protects grapevines from fungal diseases for a month after spraying.
Thanos for potatoes
Potatoes are treated with Thanos against Alternaria and late blight. I begin to carry out treatments after the potato bushes close their rows.
The following sprayings are carried out before flowering and after it. The final treatment with this fungicide is carried out after the formation of green fruits.

To prepare the working fluid, you need to dissolve 6 g of the product in a bucket of water and mix thoroughly. Thanos should be used to treat not only potato tops, but also the surrounding soil. For each square of area, the consumption of the working solution is 40 ml.
Thanos protects potato plantings for 2 weeks after treatment.
Thanos treatment for tomatoes
Tomatoes are treated with the fungicidal drug Thanos against true and downy mildew, late blight and alternaria
. The first time the tomatoes are treated with a working solution of this fungicide is carried out immediately after flowering. In total, no more than 4 sprayings of tomatoes with Thanos can be carried out per season; the last treatment should be carried out 12-14 days before harvesting ripe tomatoes.
The working liquid from this fungicide is prepared as follows: 6 g of the product is dissolved in a bucket of water, 40 ml of solution must be used for each square of area.
Fungicide Thanos for cucumbers
To protect cucumbers from fungal diseases, preventive spraying with Thanos fungicide should be carried out. You need to dissolve 4 g of the drug in 10 liters of water. The resulting liquid is sprayed onto cucumber leaf plates on both sides, all the vines and soil in the root zone.
During the season, you can spray cucumbers with Thanos fungicide up to 4 times.
. An interval of 12-14 days is maintained between treatments.
If Thanos becomes ineffective, then other fungicides should be used.

For the bow
This fungicide is used to treat onions against downy mildew. For the first time, onion plantings are sprayed before the flowers appear, then treatments are carried out every two weeks. To prepare the working fluid, 5 g of Thanos granules are dissolved in 10 liters of water. For each square of area, use 40 ml of solution.
Important!
The drug Thanos is not used to treat onions that are grown for feathers.
For sunflower
Sunflower plantings are sprayed with Thanos against fungal diseases and rot. For preventive treatments of sunflower, prepare the same working fluid as for the vineyard.
To cure plants from fungi, prepare a solution as follows:
dissolve 6 g of drug granules in a bucket of water.
The first spraying of sunflowers with Thanos is carried out at the stage of the first 5 leaves. And the next one is before flowering begins.
If the sunflower is severely affected by fungi, then a third spraying is necessary. But it must be carried out 1.5 months before collecting seeds. About 40 ml of working fluid is consumed for each square of area. If this drug does not help, then it should be replaced with fungicides that have other active substances in their composition.
The prepared solution retains its properties for 24 hours, but after this period, all remaining liquid must be disposed of.
What diseases does the chemical protect against?
Instructions for using the Thanos fungicide tell you how to achieve maximum protection for plants and allow you to provide comprehensive protection, which is achieved thanks to the following factors:
- Famoxadone, when it gets on the foliage, lingers on it for a long time, due to which a kind of protective barrier is created that remains even after rain. After treating plants with the drug, this substance kills pathogens in just 2 seconds.
- Cymoxanil penetrates the structural tissues of plants, thereby protecting plants from the inside. But the main feature of this substance lies elsewhere. Once it gets inside the plant, it spreads throughout it, penetrating even hard-to-reach places, so vegetable crops are completely protected. In addition to protection, cymoxanil helps restore plant areas damaged by fungal diseases.
It is one of the most effective fungicides intended for the control and prevention of fungal diseases that can only be found on sale today.
Drug toxicity and precautions
The fungicidal drug Thanos has class 3 toxicity for humans, animals and bees.
Therefore, it is not used during the period of mass flowering of garden and vegetable crops, near apiaries. Also, treatment with this drug should not be carried out near bodies of water, so as not to harm its inhabitants.
From the moment the solution is prepared until the completion of work, it is necessary to wear personal protective equipment; you should also not eat, drink or smoke during this period.
If this liquid gets on the mucous membranes, they should be washed with running water. The drug is washed off from the skin with damp gauze. If the fungicide gets inside, you should induce vomiting and take several tablets of activated carbon.

Active substances and their mechanism of action
"Thanos" is a two-component fungicide. It has two active ingredients - cymoxanil and famoxadone:
Component | Mechanism of action |
Cymoxanil | The substance is able to penetrate into leaf tissues and distribute translaminarly in them. This means that a sheet treated on the top surface will also be protected on the bottom. At the same time, cymoxanil does not spread through the vascular system. Therefore, “Thanos” acts locally and systemically - it penetrates deeply, but remains at the site of treatment. Cymoxanil effectively inhibits RNA synthesis in fungal spore cells, actively suppressing sporulation. |
Famoxadone | A substance from the class of strobilurins. It binds to the waxy layer on the surface of the leaves and inhibits the mitochondrial respiration of fungi, actively killing the mycelium. Works by contact. |
Thus, Thanos acts in several directions at once:
- destroys fungal spores that have sprouted into a leaf or shoot;
- destroys adult mycelium in all phases of its development.
This explains the ability of the drug to have both preventive and therapeutic effects.
Cymoxanil and famoxadone complement each other very well, working both on the surface of the leaf and in the deep layers.
Compatibility of Thanos fungicide with other drugs
This drug is compatible with other fungicidal drugs.
To protect against most diseases and “harmful” bugs, you can use Thanos in a tank mixture with the Force disinfectant, as well as with the following products:
- Karate;
- Reglon;
- drug Aktara;
- herbicide Titus.
However, before using these products together, it is necessary to test their compatibility.
High efficiency at all stages of late blight development on leaves and stems
Late blight on leaves and stems
Late blight on stems usually begins in the leaf axils
The result of stem blight is leaf damage
Alternaria blight
Analogs of fungicide Thanos
The main analogues of Thanos fungicide are:
- Switch
. This chemical contains cyprodinil and fluoxonil. The product is used to treat grapes, vegetable and fruit crops against fungal diseases. - Famox
, which contains famoxadone and cemoxanil. This fungicide has a systemic contact effect and begins to affect pathogens immediately after treatment. The protection period for treated cultivated plants is about 30 days. - Falcon
. This pesticide contains three main active substances that effectively affect fungal diseases. It is recommended to be used for processing grain crops, grape plantations and beets.
How Thanos works
Cymoxanil is a substance that moves in a downward flow, so the fungicide is evenly distributed throughout the plant. This remedy can stop the development of the disease by encapsulating the affected plant cells.
The second substance, famoxadone, is able to penetrate under the skin of the leaves and linger in the waxy layer of the cuticle. Therefore, the drug is resistant to moisture.
Fungicide Thanos: reviews from those who have used this drug
Olga, 44 years old, Samara region: I use Thanos fungicide to treat tomatoes, cucumbers and onions growing in my garden. This product effectively fights fungal diseases that can affect these vegetable crops. But it cannot be used during the flowering period of plants.
Tatyana, 50 years old, Volgograd region: Most of my garden plot is occupied by a vineyard. To prevent it from being affected by powdery mildew, I treat the vines with fungicidal preparations. I tried many different fungicides, but Thanos turned out to be the best - it begins to fight the disease immediately after treatment, and also protects my grape plantation for a month after spraying. I recommend this drug to all winegrowers.
Maria, 50 years old, Saratov region: My husband and I grow potatoes for sale on our plot. We have a large plantation of this vegetable crop, and in order to protect potatoes from fungal diseases (alternaria and late blight), we spray with Thanos. Sometimes during a season it is necessary to carry out up to 4 treatments for prevention, but as a result, our potatoes are not susceptible to fungal diseases, because after each spraying the plants are protected from pathogens for a month.
The fungicidal drug Thanos is highly effective in combating fungal diseases on some garden and vegetable crops.
It is also successfully used as a prophylactic agent to protect cultivated plants from pathogenic fungi, their spores and rot. In addition, this drug, when used in accordance with the instructions, does not cause resistance in pathogens.
Advantages and disadvantages
Thanos is a combined two-component fungicide that simultaneously acts locally and systemically. If you use the pesticide according to the instructions, the active substances do not cause resistance in fungi. Advantages of using the product:
- starts working in the first minutes after spraying;
- helps in advanced forms;
- resistance to precipitation;
- blocks disease resistance;
- slightly toxic to warm-blooded animals and bees.
The only drawback of the chemical is the large packaging, which is reflected in the high price. It is inconvenient for small farms and summer residents to immediately pay 3-3.5 thousand rubles per package. The economical consumption and effectiveness of the pesticide will pay for the cost in the first year of use.
